  • I would definitely badger county wide for the valuation to be done sooner. I would phone at least a few times today as it was supposed to be booked today. Explain that you could lose the house. Good luck 🤞🏼
  • Thank you @Firsttimebuyer20202021 your advice worked and our survey has now been booked for Tuesday! 🤞🏽

  • Hi all,
I wanted to post our timeline in case useful as it differs (again!) from what others have posted. It does seem to be completely random...
    Wed 17 - Submitted application (80% mortgage)
Thurs 18 - Sent supporting docs
    Fri 19 - Valuation booked
Fri 19 - Valuation complete (desk)
Fri 19 - Requested extra info for supporting docs
Fri 19 - Sent additional info for supporting docs
Mon 01 - Mortgage offer (no additional contact between then, other than me chasing re the valuation and them telling me verbally that the desk one had been sufficient and it was approved).

Might be useful if I used the dates for the right month  :s
  • Hi! Just sharing our experience:
22/01/21 - DIP accepted and full Application to Nationwide at 85% LTV
22/01/21 - Payslip for this month also requested (I had a pay rise so my last 3 payslips reflected old salary)
25/01/21 - Valuation text booked in for same day
29/01/21 - Valuation received and being reviewed text 7:21AM
29/01/21 - Mortgage offer and acceptance text 7:22AM
30/01/21 - Mortgage Advisor sent over the mortgage acceptance documentation for review
01/02/21 - Insurance sorted, and solicitors in touch to arrange next steps.
Although it was a quick turnaround from Nationwide, we originally went with Natwest who declined us! We put down a 10% deposit, and they declined on the basis our credit rating weren't the best (it was fair as most FTB scores are), but after reading around it does seem like Natwest are harsher and that Nationwide is probably the best one to go for being FTB! We increased from 10% deposit to 15% and was smooth from then on. There was a 4 day wait from valuation to receiving valuation which was nerve wracking, but all was good in the end.

    Good Luck Everyone :)

I applied for a mortgage with Nationwide and couldn't be happier about the experience. Just to clarify, I applied through a mortgage advisor and I live in Scotland, which means I didn't have to deal with the valuation...the valuation was carried out by the seller before the property went on the market.

    - Decision in principle and mortgage application done and sent in the evening of 13th of January
    - They asked for a signed contract of employment (I am an IT contractor and originally I sent them the original contract, which I hadn't signed)
    - Mortgage offer issued on 29th of January

12 business days all in all. Not one single problem nor glitch.

Hi. We had to pull out of our purchase after the electrical survey came back with the property needing a full rewire (on top of the damp and timber works we already knew about) plus asbestos removal.

So we’ve been lucky and had an offer accepted on the house we really wanted to see originally but couldn’t because the vendor stopped viewings because of lockdown.
We’ve applied for the new mortgage. Has anyone else reapplied so quickly after being accepted?
Do Nationwide do a second hard search even if it’s less than a month after the first mortgage approval?
    Applied on Monday.
    Valuation booked for 15th
  • just checked my application for borrowing more online   The latest says documents received and satisfactory.
todays date says valuation booked then
new document requested - valuation booking date
then new document requested - valuation report
ive had no texts. does this mean a desktop valuation has been done or they just haven't told me yet.
all my original documents when uploaded said new document requested - pension statement or whatever it may have been so i assume it says that until approval
