Now my offer is in I thought I would share my journey on here.

0.8 full time, 0.2 self employed. 85% LTV, porting exisiting mortgage plus additional borrowing. Using a mortgage broker, no fee.
    22.10- Offer Accepted on house.
    06.11- Full application submitted.
06.11- Email from Broker to say passed first stage of under writing process.
19.11- Still no valuation booked- went online and asked online Chat for an update- just told there was a back log.
19.11- 2 hours later- Text to say valuation booked
19.11- 1 minute later- Text to say valuation completed
19.11- 1 minute later- Text to say mortgage offer sent!

As it turns out I may be pulling out of the house I was going to buy following the survey, but good to know I have a mortgage offer in place which puts me in a strong buying position.
@yllop1101 mind sharing your broker, please?

Happily, Thomas Whiting from one 77 mortgages. We have done the whole process remotely, i.e. no need to attend in person. He's my go to for mortgages, and I would happily pay for his services but he is fee free!

I'm not bitter 😂 I've just been told that I may have to wait until the 1 December and my timeline is the almost identical.
Oh no, I feel your frustration as I felt mine wasn't getting anywhere until today. I was really surprised at the desktop valuation as most houses on the road i've brought on go for about 80k less, but as this one was totally renovation the price was much higher.
I do suspect that talking to them on the chat today nudged them along perhaps as a bit of a coincidence that not long after it was all approved!

@yllop1101 I've probably annoyed them by constantly contacting and messaging them 😂 I know that our valuation figure is the same as our price, so I'm hoping that it's a quick process for us -- trying not to worry.

@NHB2020 and @Anya86 all the dates are the same for our applications! I take it you both went directly with Nationwide and not through a broker? It seems that people who applied through a broker have had their application assessed quicker than ours (for example, yllop1101, who has received their mortgage offer today and applied 6/11).
    I’ve applied through a broker. 😬
I’ve heard that it’s the opposite and those applying directly are reviewed quicker. I think there’s lots of variables such as location etc there doesn’t seem like there’s any consistency!
That's what I'd heard originally, that directs were faster. I was originally told by the webchat team that I'd have decision tomorrow, but I rang and was told latest is 1 December. I'll just keep messaging them everyday and see what happens.
I'll be insane befor this is all over.
I also keep messaging them via webchat every day. :D Yesterday I got one of those annoying assistants telling me to call them to get an update on timescales, hope today I'm luckier!

We did the full app initially on the 15/10  our valuation was on the 28/10 and hard search on the 25/10. We didn’t provide the correct bank statements for my partner our own fault. It was transactions rather than a full statement. I was chasing on the web chat and phone as it drives you crazy. Once the documents are vetted it’s them passed to an underwriter which I was told is 48 hours (and that was correct). Good Luck it makes you feel like your going crazy but when you get the offer text it’s all worth it!
  • Messaged webchat today, and this was their answer:
"Having looked, it appears we're still verifying your documents and this has been passed to our dedicated team for assessment on the 17th November. That process should take 5-10 working days, and we'll update you on that once that's been processed."

So, should I get a decision between 24 Nov - 1 Dec or is that when it will be passed to underwriters? Confusing...
