  • Still nothing. I'm beyond cheesed off now. I mean come on. Valuation done week after application was submitted so no issues there, documents provided zero debt no missed payments on any thing decent credit score stable job, not affected by covid 85% LTV don't think my nerves can take any more
  • I always dip into this thread as i like to see everyone get their offers

For what its worth, my mortgage advisor said that they say no a lot quicker than they say yes so although its a crap process of waiting i do think for the most part its a good sign!

    Good Luck everybody x

  • Just been declined by Nationwide today. And honestly, after 3 weeks of waiting, I’m relieved that I don’t have to sit here a minute longer waiting for this joke of bank to message me.

    Here’s my timeline:

    FTB 85% LTV Direct applicant.
    17Aug - DIP accepted
22Sep - offer accepted on my dream house
23Sep - Submit full application and valuation instantly booked for 24th
    24Sep - Valuation report recieved

    Waiting... hear nothing.

07Oct - Hard check on Equifax and TransUnion. Exactly 10 days after application. Why is it exactly 10 days for everyone? It’s obviously just a robot check. Why don’t they do it BEFORE the valuation??

    Waiting... here nothing

13Oct - Today, I log into the the online application tracker as I do every day. To my confusion it says no application exists. So I phone NW. After 5 mins of clicking around the chap tells me I’ve been declined due to the default on my credit report (which was fully satisfied and would have showed on the soft search at DIP stage!)

The most fun part is I haven’t recieved a single message or email from them to say I was declined. I have to phone them to find out!

I’m just grateful I’ve only wasted 3 weeks with them and not longer. Now, after drying my eyes, I’ve spoken to a broker (from MSE) who has confirmed how awful NW’s application processing is currently, has confidently got me an AIP with Halifax within hours.

Looking through Halifax’s MSE forum is completely different this one. So many fast approvals and happy stories on there. I just hope I’m one of them soon!

  • A quick edit to the above post - hard credit search was done 3rd Oct (not 7th). It seems everyone on this forum has their hard check done exactly 10 days after the application. I don’t understand why it takes 10 days for an automated check.

My fingers are crossed for you. We got a bit tired of waiting for nationwide, I honestly can't remember the house all that well now. Just that it needs a bit of work and smells like an ashtray 🤦 on the advise of our MA we have put in an application with Halifax as well, end off last week, hard search was done almost immediately, so I'm hoping that this is a good sign. I'm in an area currently in local lockdown, so MA thinks they may just do desktop valuation. Me and the other half have bets on to who we hear off first, my bet is Halifax, he thinks nationwide because of the time they have already been on it haha some people on here have been waiting 42+ working days I will stick with my guess thank you

Thanks. I’d bet my entire house deposit you’ll hear from Halifax before Nationwide. Their waiting times are just appalling, leaving applicants in limbo... not being able to start packing, not daring to instruct solicitors or give notice to landlords, etc. Not to mention frustrating sellers, causing chain delays and sucking all the excitement out of buying a house and planning for the future.... I could go on. Anyway, finger’s crossed for Halifax!

  • Do people get texts even if they apply through MB? The only text I have received is a valuation text asking to confirm details. Will I get more texts to say valuation booked/ completed?
