  • Was talking to my partners parents about this whole thread and our situation too and they said that when they remortgaged with nationwide 3 years ago the services was just as poor and slow.
I’ve been trying to be reasonable and understanding of their workload due to Covid-19 but it would seem that their level of service has been pretty consistent from before the crisis.
First time buyer (FTB) - 90% Loan to value (LTV)
    Nationwide Application
01/09 - confirmation of application being received
11/09 - Alert from Clear Score of hard check being carried out
25/09 - Spoke with Nationwide via 'web chat' box on their website and they confirmed our documents hadn't been reviewed yet
27/10 - request for payslips (even though they were provided to our broker at the beginning of the application)
31/10 - Mortgage appointment with Barclays to explore Springboard mortgage options

Does anyone know the timescales for the application going to the underwriter?

I know it’s nowhere near as long as some people, but on Monday that’ll be the start of week 4 since our broker submitted the full application.
We’ve heard nothing about the valuation yet so I’m hoping that it’s being looked at now.
I know some people are having valuations done first but we’ve gone for the 90% LTV FTB mortgage so I’m presuming they’ll do the underwriting first.
Same position as you but about 2 weeks ahead! still waiting on hearing about the valuation being booked, spoke to someone on their phoneline (they're very limited on what they can check on their webchat) and said we could hear on the valuation being booked on either the 15th October when the underwriters have done their initial checks, or the 2nd November once we've cleared all their checks (no idea what the difference if there is one at all and they're not just trying to buy time).

Another week looming. Finding it difficult to think we might progress any further in the next few days.

I’d rather they do all the underwriting first, that way I’ll relax. I’m not concerned about the valuation in all honesty as we got the house for a very good price.
It’s the underwriting that stresses me out!

I really hope you get some progress this week!

I know it’s easier said than done (and I’m not exactly the picture of patience or calm) but try not to worry about it. It’s out of your control now, you’ve done everything you can, hopefully they’ll accept what you’ve said and you’ll get your offer 😊
