I’ve phoned GHG today and they said they didn’t have enough proof that my son is disabled. Well, why not email me and ask for more proof?!

Anyway, I’ve photographed and emailed in the new paperwork they wanted.

This is getting ridiculous now. After months of waiting, they have told me first I need a new detailed quote, then they can't confirm my ID, which I sent 3 forms of as asked, then they said they still cant confirm it, so I sent more! Then they say my quote seems high, but its clear they haven't even read it properly. I got an explanation from my installer about the quote and sent that to them. They just replied and said they have added that to my application, but they need some forms of ID!!! ITs driving me nuts, is as if they literally aren't reading my emails or looking at my documents. The ID is valid, its 4 forms, not 2, and its the ones they use as examples.

I've called quite a few times and the people have no idea, the customer service team seem to have no connection with the team who deal with the applications , and they seem as perplexed as me, but basically say they can only view my application, not do anything about it.

Sorry for the rant, but I'm going round in circles, and people are getting their vouchers who applied a few weeks ago. Grrr. Ok I'm shutting up :)

I’m in the same boat as you, only literally all they’ve asked me for is proof of address and said it’s added to the file. I’ve emailed but they just say they have no idea why it’s not progressing. Makes you wonder if it’s worth reapplying.

As per my message above, I sent in every bit of proof I could find about benefits yesterday.
Today I received an email saying they didn’t know who lives here or who the benefits are for - despite that being all over the paperwork and in the original application! They also wanted confirmation of my address?!

I sent in (again) our names and dates of birth, plus our address, even though I always include our address on every email...

As is often the case they just want to be seen to be doing something, they don't care about an end result.

After receiving an email on Christmas Eve about my double glazing quote being too high, l received another one yesterday night saying my flat roof insulation is too high and my supplier isn’t registered to install it! I haven’t even got a flat roof but a pitched one and my installer is registered and has already received vouchers for other customers for roofs.
The supplier sent me a response which l have forwarded on so hopefully they look into it as it’s starting to get silly.

GHG are now using delaying tactics to buy time to try and get through the backlog - my Installer has been in touch and was told that 3000 emails had been sent - one of which I received, out on Christmas Eve and many of these where sent in error, stating quotes where to high - causing panic  and confusion amongst applicants and installers.
Every time you contact them they will spin the same line in different ways eg:
your application was looked at today
your application has been passed to the relevant  team
your application is at the processing stage
your application is being looked at by a team leader
    your application is being reviewed
your application is gathering dust in the corner and I don’t really give a toss - I’ve just been told by management to pick one of the pre-filled answers above - just to get rid you !!
    Sound familiar anyone????

I ask myself how much more BS can I endure from GHG - the stretch is getting horrendous,
I’m about to pass out !!
Green Homes Grant should be renamed Green Homes Can’t.

  • Hi folks,
I have looked everywhere for an answer to this but it is not clear. I have a damp basement which i am looking to damp proof/convert into a usable room. I have done loads of research over the last few years on what is required. My question is whether I can use the Green Homes Grant. Technically the damp proofing will have insulation too and I need draft proofing for an old coal shute/ amatuer installation of a window so should qualify for that too.
Does anyone have any views on the above?

    Thanks
    CP

The team you get through to when you call or use online chat have no way of influencing or changing your application, they can only see whats there. I've spoken to a few now who seem as confused and annoyed as I am, but they cant do anything about it. They also said the whole thing is a nightmare. So its frustrating not being able to actually contact anyone that matters. We can only wait and hope

I applied for EWI on 11th November.
    Voucher received on 6th December
Installer phoned almost immediately to say they'd also received notification that the voucher had been issued.
    Work now completed.
