For anyone who has applied for the Grant, the House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee (a group of MPs who audit the Government’s performance against sustainable development and environmental protection targets) want to hear from you.

This short survey will be open until 5 PM on Monday 16th November. It should take roughly 10 minutes to complete.

The findings will help to inform their investigation of the Government’s plans to improve the energy efficiency of homes.
We appreciate the time taken to share your experiences!

    ---

The answers and examples entered into this survey will be used by the Committee to inform future questioning to the Government. The Committee does not, as a rule, pursue individual cases, but it wants to hear about your experiences as it assesses the Government’s overall performance. The information provided may be published and used in Committee proceedings, so please don’t share any personal information that you don’t want to be public.

You can get updates on their work by following the Committee on Twitter @CommonsEAC or on their website.

I am trying to find an installer for this scheme. One of the companies who I contacted said that they required a non-refundable £70 survey fee before they would give me a quote. Is this normal?
Yes they can ask for a non refundable quote to stop time wasters!
Considering how expensive the quotes are ending up there is no way I'd pay up front for someone who is likely going to rip me off, especially as most quotes aren't even involving a visit.  I could knock out a quote every 10 minutes easily, thats over £400 an hour.  It's worth just quoting high and getting paid for the quotes, ignoring the real jobs!

You can tell my experience so far isn't too positive!
  • Hi, we have managed to get an installer (suggested via the government approval process) and have had our survey completed, and filled in and sent off our voucher request for cavity wall insulation.  We have paid our deposit towards the work and now await to hear about an installation date.  However we have been told the government has pushed the dates back and vouchers aren't being released until later this month.  I've no reason to disbelieve this but has anyone else experienced this?
    Cheers

Hi guys, I have applied for green grant (5k) based on a quotation but haven't yet received voucher (survey done couple of weeks ago so should receive very soon). however today i got another quotation for less amount (for solid wall insulation) and I would like to go ahead with this builder. Anyone know what's the process? Shall I just apply for another voucher? Please let me know. thanks.

I’ve just received the following email:

Thank you for applying to the Green Homes Grant Scheme. Vouchers are now being issued. Homeowners whose vouchers meet the required criteria can expect to receive vouchers within the coming weeks. However, we are finding that many voucher applications are incomplete and require more information in order to be approved. As we work through voucher applications, we will contact you to gather any further information required to support your application for a Green Homes Grant voucher.

You will receive a separate voucher for each of the measures that you have applied to install.

You can only begin work once your voucher has been issued. Any work that was started before that date cannot be claimed under the Green Homes Grant Scheme.

Looks like the vouchers won’t be coming for a few weeks yet! Just in time for Christmas when the building trade usually close for a couple of weeks!

I’ve just received the same email.
  • And me.  My one niggle is that my installer's quote was only valid for 1 month ie to the end of October. So I think they will be bouncing the application back to us based on that alone

Hi, yes you will need to apply for another voucher - provided your builder is trustmark Registered.
I had to fill in a second application as the first quote had an error on it - when I emailed GHG they said they could not cancel my first application - however the second application would supersede the first.  They also stated that I would be able to delete my first application when the account goes live online at the end of November !!

    Dear Mr X

“I can certainly help with your query.

You can expect to see emails allowing self-service access to your online application after 30th November which will give you access to delete your old application. Please note your new application will override your previous application”.

    The wait goes on ....
