And they are still saying that all existing valid applications made before 31st March will be honoured.
Applications, or successful applications?  As the latter is what I read yesterday, which implied those they actually got around to processing.
The phrase is 'valid applications'.  Which implies that if it's a valid application, submitted by 31st March, it will be honoured.
Valid meaning, I assume, applications that fit the criteria.
    Seems simple enough to me.
They changed the criteria after I submitted, so I submitted more. That was 12 weeks ago, no idea if that met the criteria though.
Apparently not!  Just chased yet again, been told my quote is too high and they need more info.  Of course they apologised for not bothering to tell me, apparently they've had that on record since just after my last contact.

EDIT: But they just noticed I provided it back in January!  They also confirmed this both by email and on chat, so have no idea why the note left 10 days ago is requesting it and making no reference to it existing.

last response i got from customer@green-homes-grant.service.gov.uk  was on 26th Feb that we are still looking at additional information you have submitted.  Does not look good considering my application was from 1st Nov
As many others have said in this thread you have to keep on at them - I've been ringing and/or emailing weekly.  It's the only way to find out what's going on and to chivvy them along.

No point in waiting a month or more and crossing your fingers.  They don't tell you things unless you ask.  I know that's the wrong way round, but that's how it is. And it's been clear for months that it's like this.  Keep asking, don't wait for info..

Now they've set a deadline for new applications they might progress things more quickly - but I'd still keep contacting them.  I've been chasing them again today.
When you contacted them did you messsage them through their website or other means.
    Thanks
I usually phone them, and sometimes follow up in an email.

Is the voucher only usable with the company that gave the quote? External wall insulation

Yes, the voucher amount will match the quote amount. If the installer changes you have to send another quote and installers details as the payment goes directly to the installer who provided the quote.

I got a quote for £16000 for external wall insulation. Blatantly taking advantage of the situation and oyr desperation i confronted him on it he said we will adjust the quote but apply for the voucher.
  • Well tonight I am getting very close to giving up....  but wonder if that's what they are hoping for.
Tonight I called the helpline and asked for an update and got told the installer isn't qualified to carry out solar thermal heating install.
They are shown as they are on both Trustmark and MCS.
I explained to the guy on the phone and he said he can raise a complaint.
The silly thing is I have given them 3 quotes for the same bit of work as they said the 1st was too high and all three are registered to be able to do the work!!!! If that was the case wouldnt they just pick one that was from the 3 quotes I had sent in. I have a feeling they just to want to give the funding. So I have emailed this all in again and sent to my MP as well.
Has anyone else had this or similar?

Unfortunately all the participating Companies will push up their prices.
I'm based in London and I've had about 5 quotes for External Insulation for my End of Terrace House, lowest has been £16700, highest been £21000.

Though actually, as I said earlier, it just might be good news - for future applications -  as Local Authorities are quite good at this sort of thing.  Though there may now be means testing of some sort.
You clearly have more faith in LA's than I have. If I don't get the grants (and I doubt I will) I certainly wont be applying to LA for any grants for similar work, had a bad experience previously with the LA for similar.

How much does external wall insulation normally cost?
  • Received email about 9:00pm yesterday advising me that my voucher will expire on March 31st. As I have already extended it to June I rang this morning as was told to ignore the email. What a shambles!!
