I registered through EDF except that was dropped into a big black hole where City Energy took almost 6-months to respond. I registered for flat roof insulation and replacement doors.
The FIRST scam after TWO telephone interviews where basically the second "interview" simply asked me the same questions over that I had answered in the first a month earlier. They tell me okay we'll process your application and you'll receive your Green Home Energy voucher for under floor insulation. Hang about, I applied for flat roof insulation. No you don't qualify for that only under floor insulation!
I tell them no I didn't apply for that and hang up. Then 28 March they send me an email ...
This is a very important update regarding the Green Homes Grant Voucher Scheme. The UK Government have decided to axe the scheme in just 72 hours time and will stop taking new applications. If you do not register for the Green Homes Grant scheme on or before 5:00pm on Wednesday the 31st March 2021, you will miss out on funding and will be unable to have any home improvements installed under the Green Homes Grant. Great News - It's not too late!
We have managed to secure you a new Solar Thermal Hot Water System that costs £7822.50 inclusive of VAT.

If you or anyone in your household receive a uk benefit the installation and system will be supplied completely FREE.

If you do not claim a UK Benefit this will only cost you £2822.50 inclusive of VAT, saving you £5000.00!

EXCEPT 1) I had a new combi boiler fitted FREE five years ago under the replacement boiler scheme, and 2) I NEVER applied for a solar thermal hot water system under this Green Homes Grant!

Not only do we not get what we applied for in the first place way back when BUT these cowboy handlers on behalf of EDF then pushing a home improvement we haven't requested. On top of that it's £7,822.50 FREE when the limit under the Green Homes Grant is £5,000.00!

No wonder we're left scratching our head wondering what on earth is going on. Reminds me of those 'cold calls' offering us new boiler for nothing - is it 'real'? Do I really get a new boiler for nothing just because I'm on a benefit never mind how old my current boiler is?

Is the voucher only usable with the company that gave the quote? External wall insulation
Yes, the voucher amount will match the quote amount. If the installer changes you have to send another quote and installers details as the payment goes directly to the installer who provided the quote.
I got a quote for £16000 for external wall insulation. Blatantly taking advantage of the situation and oyr desperation i confronted him on it he said we will adjust the quote but apply for the voucher.
How much does external wall insulation normally cost?
I been looking oine between £8000-10000, if im not wrong

Seem to remember seeing £90 per m2, so depends on the house size and type.  A terrace will only have 2 walls to do, a detached 4.
  • Has anyone else had problems  with the Green Homes Grant. I applied after getting  a quote.  Sent it in then 3 weeks  later got email saying they could not find me,could I send details of myself, then week later got another email, the form the firm sent the quote  in ,there system  could not use ,sent it in pdf form..now got email the quote  sent in could not see supply, company, s  trust mark and proof firm can do job even thro they have trust mark all over every page sent in. Can anyone suggest  what I can do next to satisfy  these morons , or if there his a complaint  system.  I can fully understand  why the scheme  is being shut down..but please don't blame the consumer  when the blame clearly  lies with government  incompetence to implement  the scheme. HOW DOES THE GOV  EXPECT TO REACH  ITS GREEN TARGET

I nearly choked on my dinner when I read that lol 😂  😂😂
There’s about 103 pages of problems with the GHG on this thread - take your pick.
You could try sending them an email complaint -  to
    customer@green-homes-grant.service.gov.uk
    Good luck.

Has anyone not?  I'm 5 months in and they only just noticed the document they had 3 months ago from me that they confirmed receipt of twice!
