Santander mortgage timeline nightmare..  one employed, one SE, 5 weeks in. This is second try after rogue FA didn't put in previous application wih a different bank despite claiming that application was in final stages of being approved. 16 weeks so far. All conveyancing was complete many months ago. Other side has already had their mortgage offer for 3 months.. :s:s:s:s
We are the same, and just had a msg saying our buyer wants to complete on 23/11
  • It seems very sporadic when valuations are booked from what people have said. We applied today and got a text saying they have organised the valuation. I wonder if that’s a good sign?
Many lenders instruct a valuation almost immediately after an application is submitted and before they review it.

Mortgage application status (Halifax) - Help to Buy + Mortgage at 75% LTV

    • 2/9 - Help to buy ATP submitted.
    • 15/10 - ATP approved.
    • 22/10 - 9/11 NatWest application declined
    • Halifax
    • 9/11 - Agreement in Principle received (soft search on credit file).
    • 10/11- Full application submitted (hard search on credit file).
    • 12/11 - Mortgage offer subject to valuation
    • 26/11 - Valuation carried out.
    • 2/12 - Offer issued

Update, not much, mb says uw are looking at applications from the 6th and we are the 7th so should have an update next week. Also received a msg from our buyer they want to complete 23/11, mb said Santander so busy due to covid and housing boom. We were like we know that! We’ve known that for months!

In a similar situation, sellers want to complete 27th November by the looks on our solicitor case. We applied on 21st September and Santander asked for a letter last week from employer and still haven’t looked at it.

It’s so stressful! We’ve been trying for 17 weeks now, originally went with different lender, after offering us a mortgage they retracted it because they changed there criteria. I really hope you hear soon!

Santander are getting further and further behind. MBs should be making complaints? I don't think they should still be accepting new applications unless customers are warned about excessive delays before submitting.

It’s winding me up as well!! For ages they were on a steady 28 days to get to UW (which is already crap) but now it’s more around 31!! I thought they’d caught up as it had a little jump on Tuesday but nope, it’s hardly moved in the last couple of days again. On the upside ..... eventually we’ll get there, end of the month by the looks of it for me, and at least waiting for this mortgage offer has scared me from spending any money! Hahaha
  • Anyone know how you know what date you enter the underwriting queue?

Website/tracker says they are looking at cases sent to underwriting queue on 7th oct. How do you know if your application was sent on what date?

I asked the mortgage Broker, they had the update via their systems, if you went independently then give Santander a call and ask!
