  • I've been following this discussion for a while.

Application submitted to Santander (via broker): 10/06
    Hard Credit search: 16/06
(a few minor queries in this time, but all sorted with documents the broker had)
    Valuation (all good/passed): 25/06
Query and passed back to Underwriters: 28/06
Another query and passed back to Underwriters: 6/7

I keep myself sane by following and watching for positive outcomes on here!

All the best! Seems Santander is one of the slower ones at the moment.
  • So close to exchange.

My buyers finally transfered their deposit to their solicitor. It took them 2 days , because only could do half amount / day.  We were supposed to exchange last Wednesday.

Now my solicitor checking with Santander if they can release the funds for the 21st for completion.
He spoke with them this morning , but so far Santander didn’t come back with the answer :(

    Hopefully they can 🤞🏼🤞🏼

How much notice are they usually need ?
Just came back to see how things are going with others. Just so you know, if your completion is imminent, the solicitors can ring up Santander 48 hours prior to completion and the case can get escalated. Only the solicitors can escalate the process, not the client. We almost missed the stamp duty holiday deadline because no one knew this process was in place. I only came to know about it when I waited in a queue for 2 hours to make a complaint and made a lot of noise. Good luck.

Hi, thanks for this! My file went for a final sign off on Tuesday, does anyone know how long this usually takes? Hoping to complete between the 26th and 30th of July
  • Just got to the front of the underwriter queue and they had another question (not financial), so does this mean our answer needs to go back into the underwriter queue again or can the mortgage be offered without having to face another 8 days?

Does this going back to the beginning of the queue after each query a common practice in underwriting with all lenders or is it only Santander?

Rather inefficient way in many sense....

I’ve given up with Santander now, 5 weeks on from a straightforward 45% LTV application and they asked for a letter from my employer confirming salary despite the fact I have every payslip from the 27.5 years I’ve been employed there. It seems they ask for something new every week then take another week to review it. I’ve applied elsewhere now as out chain is ready to exchange and everyone is waiting on our mortgage offer. Wish I had seen this thread before applying with them.
  • Melei I feel the same. Week 7 here. Did you just withdraw and apply elsewhere?

JonMitchell yes that’s how it seems. They won’t ask for everything at once. It seems like an assembly line. They get an application, find something they need, ask for it and close the file. It’s long. I don’t know if this is actually true but it’s how it seems.

I have 2 applications currently running, first past the post gets my business but I hope it’s the newer application as I’ve had enough with Santander now.
  • Melei - how does that work? I have been told strictly NOT to do that. But I've been thinking about it for weeks now. I heard that if one sees that you applied elsewhere (via a second credit check or something) that they will then decline or pull your application. I don't know what to believe anymore. Which bank is the other application with? (if you don't mind saying)
