I've just started the process with Santander. Going directly as want to port my mortgage across, to save on the early repayment charge, plus I'm on a decent rate. Has anyone done similar, and could let me advise on expected timeframe based on their experience?0

Slightly confused by the recent message I received from Santander. Timelines:
Applied 30th June
Further supporting information requested 3rd July
Further supporting information requested 7th July
Valuation booked for 8th July.
Further supporting information requested 9th July
Sent to underwriters 12th July
Underwriting approval 21st July
I'm confused as the message received says approved subject to valuation, but the valuation took place 8th July. I called Santander who suggested its just the online system sending an automated email (as in the online tracker the valuation is listed as the next step after underwriting) and not to worry. The person I spoke to thought it was back with the main mortgage team who will tie it all together but she didnt seem very sure or could give a timescale - any ideas?
Thanks.0 -

Application sent, week later valuation complete, 3 days later broker said they asked for clarification on payslips, he didn't know why as they have every payslip, he referred them to the slips they had and they said oh yeah, we already have that.
Email yesterday saying back to underwriters.
I'm hoping that as the valuation has been done and they are now looking at payslips that they are happy with the valuation, and the amount I offered.

The underwriters queue is 8 days at present. https://www.santanderforintermediaries.co.uk/submit-and-track-business/our-service-levels/
So every time they ask for something new, it goes back to the end of the queue.0 -
At 3.15pm I received the offer, so 16 working days in all. As my solicitor is on the panel I'm hoping we can now exchange in a matter of a few days as this is literally the last thing outstanding. We were originally with HSBC but their mortgage conveyancer (O'Neill Patient) have been so utterly appalling that we started afresh with Santander.hillwalker2004 said:Slightly confused by the recent message I received from Santander. The HSBC approval was first week of May and we are still nowhere near the finish line. It took them 7 weeks just to contact my solicitor, then every communication thereafter is usually a week to turnaround.0 -
You might be surprised that Santander also uses ONeil Patient. Many years back when I had my Santander mortgage, it was conveyance by the incompetent ONeil, due to their low fee huge quantity CONVEYANCING business model.hillwalker2004 said:

All the best Jillmoneysaver. Persevere on, it shouldn’t be too long for you.Jillmoneysaver said:The underwriters queue is 8 days at present. https://www.santanderforintermediaries.co.uk/submit-and-track-business/our-service-levels/
