So sorry for everyone waiting for santander. Definitely not a lender I would ever consider after seeing this thread!! My friend applied early May and not heard a bloody sausage. All she gets is she's in the queue

    Hi,
More waiting here  :( we've been told all docs are fine and ready to be signed off but it will take another 8 working days ....

    @Purlain
    Thanks for the updates.
Did the broker say what current case status is? Has it been changed to application agreed?
Seems we should be getting the offer but until I get the confirmation, I'm assuming they still may ask for some extra docs. So, the waiting has been fun ... not! and the days are dragging even more now  :|
My case status has not changed for a week, it is quite obvious Santander mortgage team is definitely understaffed at the moment, if I had a chance to start all over again I definitely wouldn't have applied with them. Only God knows how much longer we have to wait.
If I were you, I'd apply elsewhere straight away. Our application was on the 2nd of March and they kept asking us silly questions for the next 10 weeks. Then the offer was approved, but not issued for the next 3 weeks. Our offer was issued on the 1st of June, but they haven't responded to our solicitor's query about gifts from the 7th of June. They are currently working on 1st of June and moving at 1 days of responses in 2 working days. At this rate, we are crossing the 30th June deadline. If you are okay with the stamp duty, try another lender. I've applied with Coventry and they have offered me a lot higher amount than Santander. I am self employed and have a complex financial structure. Santander queues are really long at this time and they don't give 2 hoots about people.

Sometimes I wonder if Boris has asked them to go slow so that they will get all of that stamp duty after the 30th of June! Politics after all, is but a messy game.

From approval to offer, it took us three weeks. Santander are upgrading their systems and they have to manually print, scan and upload the valuation reports from the underwriters to the mortgage team.

So an update from me, the valuation finally took place today and our offer has just been confirmed! So the race is back on!  I still don't know if our conveyancer will have time to do what she needs to do to complete by the end of June but we have more chance now they didn't wait to issue the offer 🤞🤞

Good luck to everyone else waiting, it has to be the most frustrating and stressful process EVER xx
I hope it comes through for you. The offer's team is running behind schedule by 3 weeks.

Thank you, I hope it works out for you too! It's just so stressful isn't it.

I called them first thing yesterday morning and was on hold for almost an hour, but they did agree to fax our offer to the conveyancer within the next 2-3 hours and assured me the hard copy would be with them yesterday too. Of course when I checked with the sol after 3 hours had passed they hadn't received either.

Back on hold for over an hour and they'd faxed it to a different fax number than the one on their website although it was the number they'd apparently been told to use. Anyway I asked them to fax it to the website one, and they agreed, but again, it'd be within 2-3 hours. By the time I got off the phone it was 4.30 so we wasted yet another precious day. If it isn't with her first thing on Monday morning I'm going to seriously lose my !!!!

After the euphoria of hearing our offer was approved on Thursday and the whole chain confirming they'll be ready from the 28th I was on such a downer last night. I literally can't take much more tbh! It's going to take an even bigger miracle to pull this off now 😢

Good luck to us all, I think we need it xx

For me the whole concept of using facsimile (Fax) in 2021 is totally bewildering there must be some abstract legal reason for this.

I know right! Everyone you speak to tells you something different as well.

One example being pre offer I was told it gets faxed automatically but because our timing is so tight I called them first thing. That person told me our sol has to call to request it to be faxed, like she's going to have time to do that! especially on a Friday. I said put me through to them and I'll request it, so they did and although I was expecting a battle they had no problem agreeing.

But back to your point, I thought that too, and maybe there is some legal reason but when I asked the person I spoke to later if they could email it they said they don't have the facility to do that! I was like !!!!!!?! How in this day and age can it not be emailed?! Who even uses fax anymore?! Their systems must just produce paper copies or something but surely they need an electronic copy stored somewhere and I'm sure if they were willing they could scan it and email it. It's really getting beyond a joke now 😢
  • It's embarrassing actually but I believe most banks have a similar process. So I believe it must be to do with a legal reason. Maybe timing being recorded on a fax machine as being acceptable.

That's a good point. I like to think they're just awkward though haha
