What chances are you taking? All that E.oN Next will do is raise a bill based on the reading that you have provided. It will not close off your account. If E.oN Next goes bust then we are all doomed!CRISPIANNE3 said:
I know it is not required but I am not taking any chances. I know it has to go through a third party but I see no harm In all of them having my final reading.[Deleted User] said:
You shouldn’t send a final reading to the old supplier on switch. The gaining supplier’s data collector has to validate the opening reading that you provided to it. Once validated - a process that can take up to 10 days- the readings are passed via industry data flows to both suppliers to open and close your accounts. The industry-validated reading may be different from the one that you provided. It follows that any bill that is generated by your old supplier with the readings that you provided may not be a Final Bill.CRISPIANNE3 said:Like some of the contributors on this forum I too received an email today advising will be live with NR in two days. I gave them the meter reads online yesterday. I double checked the meter serial no. was correct. Also because Symbio is still shown as the supplier on the Distributors site I have given them the same reading and a photo of the meter. Also I rang E.on Next and they too took the final meter reading.
Also very impressed the app had now been updated showing my tariff, payments details. and everything to get the account set up.
Even if they only last a month I still will have saved some money and hopefully will benefit from the refer a family/friend scheme worth £50.00.

Appreciate your comments but rightly or wrongly I'm happy with the action I have taken.[Deleted User] said:

You're taking a chance that you'll be billed for some units twice if the 'Final Final Reading' from The Mysterious Third Party is not the same as your 'Final Reading' but one supplier uses only your reading.CRISPIANNE3 said:

TBH I have always followed this process in the past and up to now my final figures have never been queried. Also Symbio said they wanted a reading and picture of the meter even though E.on next were meant to be my supplier and according to my distributor they were up until yesterday still registered with the former company.Gerry1 said:

I agree. You are always told you only need to inform your new provider, but like CRISPIANNE3 I've always informed both new and old and never had any problem. In fact, it has always worked out correctly when I've done this. I know others who haven't and an estimate reading has instead been used.CRISPIANNE3 said:TBH I have always followed this process in the past and up to now never my figures have always been used.2 -
Yes, when I left Symbio on 31 August, 3 times they emailed me telling me they wanted a reading and a photo (which they never got) and another account has just left Outfox the Market and they have emailed saying they want a reading and a photo (which they aren't getting). The Symbio account has sat unbilled since 31 August and this is despite having their smart meter. I was 2 days away from being able to claim compensation from them and they went out of business.0

Go on the main website to submit meter readings. You don't need to sign in, just fill out the form with your full name, customer reference number and enter your meter readings.Petriix said:
It seems like my account isn't quiet active yet. I can log in, but there's no tariff information and nowhere to put a meter reading in.paulbounty3 said:You can submit meter readings on their website from the drop down menu (top right of page)

I think there's a serious risk of this taking us way off topic in this thread. I hope I have not contributed to it.Telegraph Sam
