A review today on Trustpilot which worries me....

"You can flag me all you like Hun I'll keep coming back because no one deserves to become another victim to your scamming. You, Glenn, Darren, Jessica Ben and Simon should hang your heads in shame for what you've done not only to your loyal customers or should I say victims but also your staff who are now redundant with no notice when you promised a weeks pay. Utility Point might be gone but the vile and malicious nature of it's business lives on in Neon Reef. If you care about your money and believe that people should be treated as people stay clear of this cowboy company and just go to a large supplier"

The review is supposedly written by Sarah Hayes - CEO of Neon reef?

Probably just a fake account for the purposes of the review but still weird and worrying.

UP did like to flag reviews so not surprised at all. Seriously dented my trust in 'trustpilot' when a company can flag a review and it gets removed until reviewed by trustpilot. A quick check on a large supplier to compare, the large one flagged 5 reviews and NR flagged 12 for the last 12 months (1/3 of the flags were false ones). In that time the large one has 18 times as many total reviews and a higher % of 1 star ones.
Good to check on flagging activity really, it's under detailed overview.
  • could be someone with the same name? There's probably lots of people called Sarah Hayes.

either way it reads to me like a disgruntled employee of Utility Point (owned by the same company) calling out Neon Reef for the same practises, or a Neon Reef employee angry that things are going down the pan and they're being left to the wolves and still taking on customers?

Basically every recent review for Neon Reef is awful, too. Either weird things happening with switches, or complete inability to contact anyone from customer service, ignoring requests to cancel switches...

glad I resisted the lure of the lower prices and gave this company a wide berth when i was looking for a switch.

@[Deleted User] Any idea about the other names quoted? I’m not exactly filled with confidence…

I could really do without this now, in limbo between Green, NR and another SOLR. Any news on who OFGEM (spits) has given Green customers to?
  • Yes, when I was with them before July 2021, there was only flat rate, but it was so good, that there was no need for Eco 7. Now, I want cheaper night rate, even if it's just 2p.

    I was quoted:
Electric Unit Rate 17.548 p per kWh
Electric Unit Night Rate 16.01 p per kWh
Electric Standing Charge 17.23 p per day

    And my welcome letter says:
    Unit Rate 18.32355016.010400
    Standing (Daily) Charge 17.233650
I can help with this as I swapped to neon a few weeks ago. I too was quoted a dual rate but then both app and on line showed a single rate. I queried this and was assured by email that I had the dual rate. When you go live the dual rate will show as it did for me in app and web. Looks like a back office glitch that cannot deal with eco7
Good to know about the the dual rate - the day rate I was quoted when switching was 18.35p (east midlands) and the night rate 14.09 (same standing charge), and the former is the same on my welcome letter.

OFGEM have revoked the order today it seems as NR have paid it as they claimed on a reply to a review. Same link for the ofgem publication (can't post links yet)

Doesn't mean they will last, just that that is not an issue any more.
Obviously I do not know what the future holds more than anyone else.

But the fact the supplier paid the almost £40k in full the day after the PO was issued suggests not only that it perhaps supports the apparent mix up reported elsewhere, but also that they are not planning on folding anytime soon.

Confirmation of payment received by Ofgem, and so PO revoked available here:
https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/sites/default/files/2021-09/Neon Reef PO Notice of Reasons.pdf

None of the other 4 named suppliers, which included Symbio & Igloo, seem to have paid Ofgem as of yesterday. Consequently, the PO's relating to those other suppliers remain in place.

Why do you read / believe Trustpilot reviews? Are you twelve?

Thanks. I checked website today and it's showing correct tariff.
