Neon Reef - any views?

  • Does Neon Reef is able to read smart meters SMET2? I just switched from failed PfP/BG and wonder if they will ever read my meters. Also, when moving to them, I chose Eco 7 tariff, but welcome document showed flat tariff with different price. I sent email to them, but no answer so far.


    I too had flat tariff in welcome letter (just the more expensive day rate) and have emailed them (I think it was Tuesday) with no reply so far. I wonder whether they have forgotten to update a standard welcome letter (reading the thread above, Eco7 seems to be a recent addition for them).

    Yes, when I was with them before July 2021, there was only flat rate, but it was so good, that there was no need for Eco 7. Now, I want cheaper night rate, even if it's just 2p.

    I was quoted:
    Electric Unit Rate 17.548 p per kWh
    Electric Unit Night Rate 16.01 p per kWh
    Electric Standing Charge 17.23 p per day

    And my welcome letter says:
    Unit Rate 18.32355016.010400
    Standing (Daily) Charge 17.233650

    Same thing happened to me with a different company. Think it was the first I used so I didn't have any experience. Always best to try to keep it in a little credit before a switch then just wait for a refund to save any delay. They are entitled to do it if you owe money, and a lot will.

    I can help with this as I swapped to neon a few weeks ago. I too was quoted a dual rate but then both app and on line showed a single rate. I queried this and was assured by email that I had the dual rate. When you go live the dual rate will show as it did for me in app and web. Looks like a back office glitch that cannot deal with eco7

    I think the issue PP has is not about it being dual rate, but rather that the day rate specified on the welcome letter appears almost a penny more per kWh that the quote that was privided.

    OFGEM have revoked the order today it seems as NR have paid it as they claimed on a reply to a review. Same link for the ofgem publication (can't post links yet)

    Doesn't mean they will last, just that that is not an issue any more.

    Can I ask how quickly after making that payment did you wait before asking PFP to retry the switch. 

    I did that this afternoon, and moved across the money to cover the debt but nothing as yet has appeared on my account to say its been received and applied, just not sure if I need to wait until I see it on the account or not. 
  • It took neon a week to show it on my account. I didn't ask the other company to try again, they must have tried anyway, and the switch date was three days after the blocked switch would have been.
