I've moved 2 accounts away from Neon Reef last night and a 3rd one will leave shortly.  I seem to recall GB Energy Supply, hiking prices in a similar way and shortly after they closed down.  I quite liked Neon Reef too.  I wonder if management predicted the mass exodus?
Who have you moved to if you don't mind me asking ??

How do you know there is a "mass exodus" many of Neon Reef customers will be on cheap fixed rates, those who post on this board may well be the most vocal, that should not be confused for being considered as the masses in anyway shape or form
Definition of "mass exodus" https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=mass+exodus+meaning  "which usually indicates that almost everyone leaves at the same time"
They would rather people switch out of loss making variable rate tariff than keep the tariff loss making, that is apparent ( obvious)

Let’s be honest, their new rates are not uncompetitive, they’re just not as cheap as what they were. Now neon are similar to the rest of the masses.
For those of us that like going with the cheapest the a;turnstiles are now pfp and symbio. Symbio will be licking their lips!

Same as variable savings rates reduce loss making rates, customers switch elsewhere, if want funds at a later date introduce another tariff fixed or otherwise cheaper than most competitors,  higher rate than the tariff people have switched from.
Point I was making was in reply to comment about "mass exodus" and likelyhood many Neon Reef customers will be on cheap fixed rate tariffs and thus unlikely to be leaving anytime soon

That's what Neon Reef have done.  Aqua One was closed to new customers a while ago, but its very low rates were maintained.  Even now, Aqua One is continuing with rates lower than on the new Marine v4 tariff it's just launched.  In effect they have a genuine loyalty dividend.
If Symbio go bust then I'd certainly consider Neon Reef again if they were competitive.

As for "mass exodus"  fair to say any of the energy companies can attract mass signups at any time by offering special rate to Lamb and/or other similar switching sites at higher rates than tariff people switched out from, in a nutshell they wont be bothered, no doubt  they will send out "sorry to see you go"  email

Obvious 64K question: Where now the mass exodus, or even just myself, should turn to if we aren't attracted by what we read on these forums about Avro, PFP and Symbio? I've yet to find an obvious alternative fixed or variable

I've not found the answer yet myself & I have spent all afternoon looking !
I have a nasty feeling that the end is nigh for these smaller companies & I really don't the hassle of one of them going t*ts up on me.
I am probably going to go to British Gas Evolve for my electric.

Was with Gulf now Hub Energy on a fixed deal ending end June 21. Decided to go to Neon Reef due to their competitive Marine v2 price on the 14th May. I was aware that Marine v3 came in on the 25th May which meant a 21% price rise, but not directly from Neon Reef themselves. Yesterday I received the email about the new Marine v4 which would be a further 13% price rise (all in the space of just over a month). My supply with Neon Reef doesn't actually start until tomorrow but I have initiated a transfer away already. Decided against Symbio and PFP based on reviews and have ended up going to the next cheapest 12 month fix for me which was EON Next. Price is only just over Marine v3 when factoring in the MSE cashback.

Interesting and thanks for saving me the work.  BG Evolve is in fact also in my short list if I do in the end decide to switch from Octopus Tracker - which is now not as compelling a move as it was previously.
I think that you have to sign up to smart meters with all the EON tariffs (?)
