I thought part of the SoLR process required the tariff to be fixed for 6 months?MWT said:
I would point out that your complaint is not about the 'end date' it is about the 'guaranteed date' which they changed some weeks after advising you that the tariff was guaranteed via email and advertising it on their web site as guaranteed.CRISPIANNE3 said:My reply from BG regarding showing the Welcome tariff as guaranteed until 31. We have received your complaint about tariff prices and the end date. I'm sorry that you're unhappy about this and that there has been confusion caused. I have checked the account and I'll explain this. All our customers who have recently transferred as part of SOLR acquisitions are on a variable tariff. These tariffs have an end date and the reason is to that the account can be switched to the standard tariff once the date has occurred or the account would remain on the tariff until changed. The tariff end date for our customers from NR is 31.07.2022. However the rates are NOT fixed as fixed tariffs have exit fees etc and the the customer has to sign up for it. In the current case, the account was rolled on to it by default. It's a variable tariff and the pricing will increase/decrease as per Ofgem's price cap. unquote. That's been the subject of some debate. The Ofgem guidance is unclear and Ofgem themselves have been evasive when asked. One school of thought is that the guidance could be met by a tariff that follows the Ofgem cap.

Thanks for that. When I originally spoke to them the first line complaints team said they could do nothing. However after being more specific on what my issue was they advised it was too technical for them to deal and has now been passed to the executive team.MWT said:

That's not necessarily so...the SOLR process does not allow the gaining provider to impose exit fees on the SOLR tariff so an SOLR provider could provide a short term fix rate (a la the one we believe BG offered) and there be no exit fees. So once again the average person is not to know that it wasn't a short term fix.CRISPIANNE3 said:My reply from BG regarding showing the Welcome tariff as guaranteed until 31. July 2022.

BG themselves have in the past used fixed tariffs without exit fees for those from a failed supplier, here is an example of one of those...

As I still appear to be in the process of transferring to BG. I logged on to my account today (previously set up when BG became SoLR for PFP) and looked at my tariff for Welcome To British Gas. It is far from what I'd previously seen of 20.141p/kWh and 24.383p/day
I hope these are the rates for the April increase which states on average they will be 28p/kWh and 45p/day

It hasn't officially been available for months now, it does seem that the agents are being made more aware of that recently though...Phones4Chris said:https://www.britishgas.co.uk/solr/neon-reef.html seems to be giving 502 proxy error.
