My monthly direct debit is now showing on my BG account after my chat session yesterday. The monthly direct debit with Neon Reef was £42.75 which resulted in a small credit balance over the year. When asked what I'd like my BG monthly payment to be I estimated £56 - the CS rep said that would be fine and would mean I'd build up a credit balance.  What do you guys think? Does £56 sound about right? My annual usage is around 2021 kWh.

That usage is about £550 a year at current capped rates. Depending on how even that usage is you'll likely build a small credit til April (£10 a month if even usage) but if rates rise by 40%+ in April then that'll be used up by July. However if BG hold current rate until end July, as is possibly indicated on the tariff info we've had...no one is sure on that yet , then the credit might last to Sep/Oct. So basically £56 is probably a good enough figure for now.

Anyone else still waiting for BG to show the initial reading? I’ve entered it at least 3 times now and still both the app and account don’t show it
Same here - nothing happening with the account - paint drying is faster !!

The days of building up credit balances on utility accounts for me have long gone. I prefer variable direct debits and then I am in control.

I'm still waiting for mine to be shown. I spoke to their online chat facility and confirmed they had my reading but can take up to 28 days from when the so called transfer started to appear on my account. Mine started for me on the 22 November so should appear in a few days.

Wow was not expecting that! Just checked and my meter read has just appeared on my account and was the read I gave them on the 3 December. I assume it has been through the validation process.

All looking good. Using the web login I was able to make an upfront payment of what I would have paid to Neon Reef for November and a little extra for December and have even managed to book a smart meter installation for tomorrow (Saturday). The iOS app, meanwhile, is way behind.

Well my reading for 6th Dec has now appeared on the BG web site - not sure who is going to want paying for the units consumed between 21st Nov. and this reading - hopefully at NR rates - but probably not !!
