OK then, can only say that I have been with them since October, submitting monthly readings and getting accurate statements back within about four days ie exactly what should happen.

Not a brilliant start for me at Neon Reef.

Had the opening meter readings email with a link to to input readings. After logging on to my account, found nowhere to put my readings. After sending them a message on Thursday, found a meter reading tab on the front page of their website, so I put my readings in there.

Received a return email today, Monday, saying that the problem is that they are waiting for my meter details and I had to email my readings to them, no mention of using the meter readings tab on the website, or that they have my readings via this tab.

After using the instant message, yes they do have my opening meter readings.

If they know I cannot input readings yet, why are they not directing us to this tab on the front page of their website, even the return email failed to mention this.

    Considering Neon Reef.  My questions:
Anyone used them?  What are they like?  One thing I like with Octopus is within reason you can set your monthly direct debit amount and they  don't !!!!!! you about, but what are Neon like?
Again with Octopus I send a monthly reading on the website (no smart meter and don't want one) and you get a bill based on that months actual usage. Are Neon the same?
How long have they been going?  I fear at this low price they won't last long and you will be transferred to some random substitute supplier?
Do i have to put my Octopus balance into credit (end of winter small debit at the moment) before you can change supplier?
I have a pending £50 Octopus referral bonus, I guess I should wait for that to complete before switching?
Why has this never came up on a price comparison site?  Last time I looked I could only save about 0.3p per kWh compared to Octopus. Nothing this cheap came up?

I would summarise I would like something like Octopus where YOU can nominate the montly DD amount and as long as you balance does not go to far in arrears they don't bother you,  Will I be disappointed with Neon and get silly bills?

Been with them since September. DD is set at 1/12th your estimated consumption, first payment taken at the start of contract.  Their actual reading date for me has been a bit iffy but their estimates have always been pro rated to the actual read given.  Never had to contact them, switch went fine, so don't know what their CS is like.

I've got 3 electricity accounts with them, 1 of them shows I was the 88th person to join so I was with them very early.  Never had any real problems, I have chanaged DD amounts to my liking and they have obliged.  Octopus is fine too, but they are nothing special and neither is Neon Reef.  They supply cheaper electric than Octopus do and their customer service is good.

I have just been reading reviews on Trustpilot, to which Neon Reef replied to one, saying that if you have not sent any updated meter readings, they send out a reminder, a few days before your bill is generated.
Anyone know if this is this is the case.

    Not in my case.
Probably worth your while setting a reminder in your calendar if you're likely to forget without a reminder.

I moved to Neon Reef on 7 February and these are my observations with them so far:
    • switch process was good with email communications along the way
    • cheaper tariff appeared during switch process and they gladly put me onto that once I emailed them to see if they could
    • I downloaded their app - and despite some issues - seems to be working fine so far. However, it does not prompt you for a meter reading which seems a big oversight
    • No email reminders have been received for meter readings. Estimated one was used for first month. Even though I supplied a reading! You have to give meter reading on day of supply commences I think. First bill was about 10 days after
    • I used a referral link and this was not added to my account during the 30 days they say, but emailed them and it was added within a few days
These are my views, and so far, so good. A little bit of tweaking and they could be almost as good as my previous supplier, YE

I am in process of switching electricity to Neon Reef and have had same experience, but I didn't find the meter reading tab on the front page of the web site, because I had bookmarked the login page. I submitted reading by email, which they acknowledged. Simultaneously switching gas to SSE.
