You can even pay with Variable Direct Debit which eliminates all the problems associated with excess credit building up and the confusion about 'All You Can Eat'.I managed to escape Symbio's SoLR and I've been told in Chats and emails that my tariff (currently the SVT) will be backdated to the start of service. Chat seems to be the only way to get it and you'll have to be very persistent and keep the transcript (take photos because transcripts don't always materialise), but if you like a challenge it might be worth a go.
Did you choose to join the standard British Gas brand or British Gas Evolve?
EDIT: Seems like I can't join the SVT directly but I can go for an Evolve zero-exit-fee fixed tariff. Is that what you did?
I would be very surprised if you can move to a BG tariff when it sounds like you joined / are joining BG Evolve - from what ive read they use completely different back end software so the BG tariff is probably does not even exist on BG evolves system
https://www.britishgas.co.uk/help-and-support/my-account/understanding-energy-tariffs it’s quick and easy to change tariffs online if you’re already with us. Simply access your account online, go to ‘tariff switch’ and pick your new tariff. It’ll take us 24 hours to switch you over and you won’t have to pay any exit fees.

But to answer your question, anyone with BG on a different tariff cannot transfer to their SVT via the online portal. Existing BG customers can only currently move to the SVT by doing nothing when their fixed term tariff ends.
SVT's cost a supplier money at the moment due to the Ofgem imposed price cap.
Yet this Zero Fixed Oct 22 tariff that everyone seems to be being promised on chat is priced significantly less than the SVT.
Anyone know of any other suppliers that offer tariffs at significantly less than the Ofgem price cap recently.
Symbio? Neon Reef?
Whatever happened to them?
According to the only place on BG website you can see details of the Zero Fixed Oct 22 tariff, it clearly says:

I would save £45 a year by switching to that tariff but am getting an electric car next month so my usage will change, and this tariff for my region has a higher kWh than the svr. Hmm.0

IF I could get on this Zero fixed Oct 22 , it would save me ~ £15 vs potential capped price by April then more by October (dependent on the new cap in April) but I've decided that the savings aren't worth the risk of a) BG NOT switching me to this tariff from whatever fix they sign me up to, and b) the heartache of being a BG customer again !!1

All these weeks and no on line chat available with Neon Reef and yet now since they ceased trading it is now opened up again.0

Just thinking about possible SOLR. Is there any reason (except having some business sense - loss making customers) why OVO/SSE and Scottish Power haven't been SOLRs for any of the companies to go under so far this year? So far, EDF, BG, Shell and Octopus have all taken on over 500,000 customers each, and E.ON Next, just under 250,000.0

Yes, I was due a refund from July when I left. They stopped replying to me and they did not reply to the Ombudsman. Then the day they stop trading they finally decided to reply....
"Good morning,Thank you for your email. It is with deep sadness that we have ceased trading, but please feel assured your credit will be secure under OFGEM’s safety net. Any credit will be transferred to the new appointed supplier no credit will be lost.
OFGEM are working to have a Supplier of Last Resort appointed and as soon as a new supplier has been appointed you will be updated. We would recommend not cancelling any Direct Debits, and If you are able to, take a meter reading and update this via your online account"
I have zero sympathy for them and I feel they have been downright dishonest to their customers.
