That’s the same rate as eon for me 1p less but 10p at night so it’s worth it … but no guarantee and could be stuck on 33! I use 7500 a year…
But does E.On also have no standing charge??

Person on live chat said had to switch me initially to current tariff available but will put notes on my account that I will be moved to the zero fixed Oct 2022 tariff effective from switch completion date. She did the switch for me there and then in live chat and have got screenshots plus requested transcript so should be ok!
I thought you were already with BG, on a tariff that was shortly due to end. i.e. one of the special BG zero standing charge tariffs exclusively made available to former Ebico/RHE customers who were on a zero standing charge tariff

Hi thanks for the reply managed to switch to British gas zero fixed October 2022. Called British gas who told me its not available tried live chat and the agent told me that the tariff has expired was about to give up but told him lots of people have switched to this tariff and please can he check with his seniors. Came back after 10 minutes and said he's applied to switch me to the zero fixed October 2022 tariff so if anyone who wants a zero standing charge tariff apply asap with British gas.
Thanks for the heads up on this as was also on BG zero fixed about to expire end of this month and could not find another zero SC but then went on live chat yesterday and they agreed to move me to BG Zero fixed Oct 2022 too. Interestingly I got the email from BG alerting me that the previous zero fixed was due to expire end of this month and it said my cheapest renewal option based on my useage was some other tariff way more expensive than zero fixed October 2022….nowhere was this new zero fixed tariff mentioned. Maybe because it was no longer available even though they agreed to switch me to it (and have since got email confirming been done as of today).

Or are you saying you have now switched your main property too? The one you only switched to NR after Symbio went bust.
Why did you switch to NR if you were aware of the BG tariff that is cheaper than NR was???
Yep the ex Ebico one was the one already switched. The one I’ve done via live chat is my main Elec supply that was with NR. NR worked out a bit cheaper than the BG zero fixed for my useage.

No, but the increase of 10p per kWh on my usage is far outside the standing charge saving if they don’t move me from standard charge

    Where's @QrizB ?

    (For reference.)
I'm here, thanks. And I'd still advise against joining BG on an expensive fixed tariff in the hope of then switching to a cheaper discontinued one. (If you can join on their SVT, well that's less of a gamble.)

  • The extra 10p on the variable if I’m stuck far outweighs the no standing charge, I’m with you on that one albeit it’s very tempting to try…. If I get stuck.. not good

What is the rate of this special tariff roughly ?
    Here's the Eastern England version.
If you can get it, it's a no-brainer for anyone being rolled onto an SoLR electricity tariff, less so for dual fuel or gas.  The single rate is the same as the E7 day rate.
I wonder why BG include that Important Information?

what with so many here now having chat transcripts promising they will all be moved to that tariff, and backdated to boot!?

I calculate that 7500kWh on BG's Zero Fixed Oct 22 in Region 10 will cost £1498.58 on single rate, or £1194.03 on E7 with 42% used at night.  Out of interest, what are your equivalent E.On figures?

For anyone who wants to try their luck, the British Gas Zero Fixed Oct 22 electricity tariff would be unbeatable IF you can switch to it.  You can even pay with Variable Direct Debit which eliminates all the problems associated with excess credit building up and the confusion about 'All You Can Eat'.
I managed to escape Symbio's SoLR and I've been told in Chats and emails that my tariff (currently the SVT) will be backdated to the start of service.  Chat seems to be the only way to get it and you'll have to be very persistent and keep the transcript (take photos because transcripts don't always materialise), but if you like a challenge it might be worth a go.
I had good luck with my first Live Chat. I printed the transcript to PDF and the advisor assured me I'd be able to transfer to that tariff after first signing up to the SVT.

Did you choose to join the standard British Gas brand or British Gas Evolve?

EDIT: Seems like I can't join the SVT directly but I can go for an Evolve zero-exit-fee fixed tariff. Is that what you did?

I would be very surprised if you can move to a BG tariff when it sounds like you joined / are joining BG Evolve - from what ive read they use completely different back end software so the BG tariff is probably does not even exist on BG evolves system
Haven't signed up for anything yet. If I go via the BG brand the only tariff available is one with a £75 exit fee. Might still be worth it lol. I need to get back on the Live Chat and see what the options are. Would have been ideal if I was able to nip the issue in the bud with the original advisor.
It's basically Zero Fixed Oct 22 or bust.  If you're fobbed off with BG Evolve or any other tariff it's like to be more expensive than ending up on the SoLR's SVT, so think carefully and do the sums.  You'll have to be very persistent, but the prize makes it worthwhile.
What I meant was they told me to sign up to the SVT, and then once I'm on supply I need to tell them to transfer me to Zero Fixed Oct 22. But there is no option to sign up to SVT directly.
Just done that, I took a screenshot of the chat and got an emailed transcript just to be safe.
Just done what, exactly? Were you told to do the same as me, or do something else?
Was told to switch to the only tariff that comes up on the website, contact them once the switch had gone through and they'd move me to the Zero Fixed Oct 22 tariff, backdated to the inception date.
Gotcha. Did they say anything about paying the £75 exit fee for that initial tariff?

https://www.britishgas.co.uk/help-and-support/my-account/understanding-energy-tariffs it’s quick and easy to change tariffs online if you’re already with us. Simply access your account online, go to ‘tariff switch’ and pick your new tariff. It’ll take us 24 hours to switch you over and you won’t have to pay any exit fees.
The problem may be that you won't be shown the Zero Fixed Oct 22 tariff.  It seems that it's only available by Chat and only if you are very persistent.
As an existing customer, can you see an option to switch to SVT through the online portal? Just thinking of the worst case scenario.

What special tariff has E.ON, your SoLR, put you on then?

E.ON's SVR tariff (Energy Plan) for Region 10 is:

    24.136p per kWh / 12.625p per kWh / 24.10p per day

    Edit:
E.ON have not been appointed a SoLR recently have they? I guess you meant E.ON Next, but the above rates equally apply to Next Flex, the tariff E.ON Next have usually used.
