Person on live chat said had to switch me initially to current tariff available but will put notes on my account that I will be moved to the zero fixed Oct 2022 tariff effective from switch completion date. She did the switch for me there and then in live chat and have got screenshots plus requested transcript so should be ok!

The way British Gas are talking, I very much doubt you need to actually chat to anyone before taking the plunge. Nonetheless, it's good to have some kind of written proof.

    1. To chat, go to the "Help & Support" section of their website, and click on the "Chat" button on the bottom-right.
    2. Say "Joining" when the bot asks what you need help with.
    3. When asked if you are the account holder, say "No". You will then be put through to a human.
    4. Tell them what you want. At this point, most of us are being told you will have to sign up to whatever tariff you can find on the BG website, then ask them to switch you over to the Zero Fixed Oct 22 tariff once you are on supply.
    5. Use this link to sign up if you want to avoid being re-directed to the British Gas Evolve website: https://www.britishgas.co.uk/GetAQuote/new/quote-details?cid=bgEvolve_redirectBAU
    Thank you so much
Isn’t this a risk - that it’s not available when you want to switch and you’re then on something more expensive?
apologies if I’m miss8ng something - I may well be
Can't see the risk, they put you on the SVR to set you up with an account, then backdate you to the start on the zero fixed October 2022 tariff, if you keep the chat transcript as proof of the deal then I can't see why they wouldn't honour the agreement?
  • What is the rate of this special tariff roughly ?

I thought you were already with BG, on a tariff that was shortly due to end. i.e. one of the special BG zero standing charge tariffs exclusively made available to former Ebico/RHE customers who were on a zero standing charge tariff

Hi thanks for the reply managed to switch to British gas zero fixed October 2022. Called British gas who told me its not available tried live chat and the agent told me that the tariff has expired was about to give up but told him lots of people have switched to this tariff and please can he check with his seniors. Came back after 10 minutes and said he's applied to switch me to the zero fixed October 2022 tariff so if anyone who wants a zero standing charge tariff apply asap with British gas.
Thanks for the heads up on this as was also on BG zero fixed about to expire end of this month and could not find another zero SC but then went on live chat yesterday and they agreed to move me to BG Zero fixed Oct 2022 too. Interestingly I got the email from BG alerting me that the previous zero fixed was due to expire end of this month and it said my cheapest renewal option based on my useage was some other tariff way more expensive than zero fixed October 2022….nowhere was this new zero fixed tariff mentioned. Maybe because it was no longer available even though they agreed to switch me to it (and have since got email confirming been done as of today).

Or are you saying you have now switched your main property too? The one you only switched to NR after Symbio went bust.
Why did you switch to NR if you were aware of the BG tariff that is cheaper than NR was???

It'll be different for each region I suspect, for me on Northern Powergrid it's £0.20074/kWh no standing charge.

What's all this BG zero fixed oct 2022 about....is it some hidden tariff NR customers can sign up for, reading through last 6 pages and I'm lost

I mentioned it over 5 weeks ago here

I may stick with my SOLR Eon then as I believe it’s essentially that for me … east of England

    Here's the Eastern England version.
If you can get it, it's a no-brainer for anyone being rolled onto an SoLR electricity tariff, less so for dual fuel or gas.  The single rate is the same as the E7 day rate.
  • That’s the same rate as eon for me 1p less but 10p at night so it’s worth it … but no guarantee and could be stuck on 33! I use 7500 a year…
