Just got off the chat with BG, all sorted on the chat, set up the account as Zero Fixed Oct 2022 there and then, the agent took a while to do stuff in the background, but confirmed that I will be on that tariff in 14 days, no having to go back and switch from SVR, let's see...
Do you know which team sorted it for you?

I've been passed around on chat so many times but currently getting nowhere.
I just sat in the chat queue for ten minutes after I told the bot I wanted the deal, I think it was just the next agent, TBF she knew exactly what I wanted, set up a new account and took DD details there and then, took a while to finish but no messing about, it's probably a matter of luck who you get, and maybe whether they're on commission for signing up new customers  ;)
In the words of the Four Yorkshiremen "You were lucky....".

I've just lost an hour of my life that I won't get back and been transferred through 5 chat agents only to basically be told to sign up online to the only available BG tariff (having selected Cheque/Bank payment rather than DD so I didnt get sent off to BG Evolve) that is a lot more expensive than SVR with a potential £75 exit fee.

And that once I get switched to contact them and I can get transferred to the Zero Fixed tariff and that it would be backdated to original completion date. (i do have screenprints of the chat).

Not sure that I feel confident enough to give this a go...if it was a switch to SVR and i couldn't get onto Zero Fixed eventually then it would be nothing lost compared to SOLR, but i really don't want to risk being stuck on HomeEnergy Secure Jan 2024 at 29p kwh and 31p per day SC......

What's all this BG zero fixed oct 2022 about....is it some hidden tariff NR customers can sign up for, reading through last 6 pages and I'm lost
It's an extremely cheap fixed electricity tariff IF you can get switched to it.  No daily charge, no exit fee.  You'll have to be very persistent and not be fobbed off about doing it online, it seems to be only available by Chat.  Start again with another agent if you're not lucky the first time.
Unlikely to be good for gas unless you have low consumption.

I switched my second (small useage) Elec account to the BG zero fixed 2022 via chat a month or two ago when previous BG tariff was ending. My main electricity account with NR so trying to go on chat to switch this to BG zero fixed 2022 too but keeps just saying no one available and then the auto agent leaves chat.

Ah, just been into my new online account and it looks like they have put me on the SVR, but I have the chat record so I can go back to them if they don't immediately switch me to the zero fixed Oct 2022, I'll report back when I get switched over.

Keep on trying !  You only have to get lucky once.
Have some boilerplate prepared that you can quickly copy and paste so that you can head off their likely dissuasive responses.  When they eventually agree to switch you to Zero Fixed Oct 22, take photos of the Chat in case the transcript doesn't materialise.

That's what I did and confirmed it at the end of chat, then took a copy of the chat, didn't seem to be an option for emailing the chat as other suppliers seem to be able to do.

Yep I did all that when switching to it a month or two ago for my other account as it wasn’t publicly on sale / available so was not convinced they would allow me to….all very efficient and got confirmation email of new tariff the same day. I was an existing customer though.

I was with Symbio.  Against the standard advice, I cancelled the direct debit.  Other who didn't cancel were charged by Symbio about a month later, long after they'd supposedly gone bankrupt.
Bear in mind that the DDs taken weren't necessarily 'wrong' but simply part of the intended process.
  • I tried for the BG Fixed Zero and was told.... "Thank you for your patience. I have checked with this concern team and the BG Zero Fixed October 22 tariff is only available for customers with defense background. I tried to activate on your account, however the system is not allow for the same."
