it’s abit naughty of them really when we are not married the exact reason I didn’t go on the application is due to my credit but they have checked it anyway
they have ran a hard search it’s appeared on my credit file
Just double check there haven't been any wires crossed here! It's okay to amend an application especially with a manually underwriting lender like Kent Reliance, but it's not okay for a hard search (or any actually) to be performed without you agreeing to it!
Even if they are searching you because e.g. you are a "linked" person, i.e. if you ever took credit out together in the past, they would still need your permission to search you.
The best outcome would be the broker confirms you were not inadvertently put on the application, it proceeds with just your partner and you can appeal to KR to have the search removed (this is possible but a bit cumbersome and takes time)!
when I seen the credit check I thought they would have needed permission but I don’t know if it’s to late to argue it as it’s already been seen the damage to his application could already be done0 -

I'm under the impression that if you are financially linked with someone, they can run a credit check on you both even if only one of you is applying for credit. I think there's usually a few posts on this in the credit file & rating board with people asking similar things to this though, so maybe have a root around.
Don't worry / think the worst just yet. It may be fine!1 -

My understanding is it really does depend what this link is - if e.g. you have/had a joint bank account of any kind, or a join utility contract, or applied for a store credit together etc - this would likely stay as an associated link with nothing you can do about it. Meaning every time he applies for credit, they would search you, too.
If it's some arbitrary link that doesn't exist anymore , you could apply to the 3 CRAs to remove the association from his file - as long as there is a reasonable explanation as to why it doesn't exist anymore. This is usually really straightforward https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5520698/please-help-financial-association
As for Kent, it depends on their criteria how much they take it into account e.g. if they would consider your bad credit when underwriting for his mortgage. They might not, depending on what the association is. So the first thing to do is run your own report, check what the association is, and ask your broker how they are likely to view it. Remember, they're probably THE most forrgiving lender out there, so don't worry too much even if the association is a serious unsecured debt with adverse - if anyone will work around it, Kent will!Credit cards: £9,705.31 | Loans: £4,419.39 | Student Loan (Plan 1): £11,301.00 | Total: £25,425.70Debt-free target: 21-Feb-2027

@annetheman
from what I can work out the association could possibly be down to both our names being on the council tax there isn’t any other association we have never taken credit together and he doesn’t give me any money on a regular basis
The broker has said it could have a negative impact on his application but because he had already had a mortgage in principle it should be ok but my understanding is a mortgage in principle doesn’t really mean a lot0 -

Hi everyone, our MB has told us today that our valuation has come back satisfactory and the lender hasn’t asked for any more documents. Our MB has said that KR are now carrying out final checks - does anyone know what this means? Not sure if we are in the queue for an offer or not. Thanks0
-
Also just to let you all know, my MB has just advised that KR are trying to issue a lot of their backlogged cases by Christmas - I’m hoping they hurry up as my MB is closed from 1pm tomorrow!2
