We hadn't been able to afford to go abroad with the kids till last year (had a fab time at Disneyland Paris), so this year with our shiny new passports was intending a week in a Caravan with the Dog down south at Easter and 10 days in Spain in August. Of course after almost 20 years of no passport 2020 hit lol.
Easter was cancelled for us as site shut, they were fab and refunded straight away-will be looking to visit them at some point for a short break as they were lovely.
Spain was a booking in a private villa, but never got to book the flights as everything went south just when we were looking to book. Luckily for us as the communal pool wasn't available and things being as they are the couple who own it were great and also refunded us. Rental car was also an easy cancel.
Count ourselves as really lucky but kids and hubby desperate to get away so have booked with Eurocamp in Northern France are driving via the tunnel in August. Thinking no flights, can stay in car, have our own unit not in hotel, and will spend lots of time outdoors. Worst come to worst can drive back to Calais and grab any ferry/tunnel we can book and be home in one day. Fingers crossed."Overthinking every little thing

Just managed to get a weeks holidays in the canaries before it all started to kick off in March. Had a European city break cancelled in April and 10! days in the algarve in June.
I’ve managed to to move that to next year. Fortunately got refund on our flights to Berlin, and 100% refund in our Airbnb. Hoping to go to France by ferry in September, but haven’t booked yet!
Also hoping to do a Xmas market break in nov/ dec. will probably go by Eurostar for that. Hope we don’t get another serious wave in Autumn.1 -
We have booked two weeks in Gran Canaria in August, we were there in February just as covid was hitting the rest of the world, whilst some people are still worried about venturing abroad our thinking was well people will have to make their minds up at some point to risk holidays ,we might as well be one of the first as we are not getting any younger and still in reasonable health.2

In the past 10 years at least, they've tended to offer 20% early booking discounts on ferry & accommodation Holiday packages, usualy in Nov of Dec, for the folowing Spring and Summer. These are advertised to anyone who's registered online for updates.
The accommodation ranges from Chalet Parks to hotels and cottages (casas), and the travel-inclusive prices are really competitive. You can vary the accomodation, with a few nights in different resorts (although you have to ring in to book multi-site hols) and prices are really keen (or were- who knows what they will be next year!). The kids might like the 24-hour crossing, and driving in Spain is a dream,1 -
I shall be leaving the house shortly, filled all my docs in with the Spanish government- only found out this needed doing 2 days ago -

I wonder how many on the flight are not going to be flashing their QR codes to Spanish customs on arrival. Still very much looking forward to 8 days in the sunshine. Next stop Luton Airport!2 -
We were supposed to be in Corfu in April, that was cancelled and fully refunded. Cruising the med from August 1st, cancelled and deposits shifted to a cruise certificate lasting 2 years.
We had NY and Canada booked for October but the cruiseline have cancelled the Canada stops as they can't port there. We cancelled the cruise, but booked the NY portion separately so we are hoping Virgin extend their flight credit scheme to cover the end of October as we don't want to travel to the US. We may have to lose the flights if they don't extend their policy.
We have just had two days in the Lake District and we intend to go back there for another couple of long weekends going forward. We were considering the Isles of Scilly or the Isle of Wight for a week, but we want good weather so have decided against that plan.
Corfu has been re booked for next May, and my finger is hovering over booking the cruise that was cancelled this year for Aug 2021 but something is holding me back.
We have decided that we will go to Tenerife between Xmas and NY if the situation with Covid allows.
2021/22 will be big travel years for us if things are stable.

I've pretty much given up on 2020, despite still having 32 night Caribbean cruise booked for November.
Was excited when UK FO included Hong Kong on the 'exempted' list and even priced our flights to visit my son there for Christmas. BUT HK are only allowing permanent residents in at the moment and they've just entered another semi lockdown in response to their 3rd wave, so we'll have to make do with FaceTime.0 -
I've started to make plans for a few trips later this year but I'm keeping things as flexible as possible as you cannot rely on airline schedules being fixed, hotels being open or even countries allowing you in.
I have Tenerife in October which was rebooked from the first week in July. I have a bunch of holiday entitlement built up so I'm looking at a few long weekends in "safe" destinations. After such a crappy year it would also be good to get away for some sunshine over Xmas/New Year.

We have 5 days on the Amalfi coast booked for mid-August, all fully flexible. Not quite the Maldives we were hoping for this year, but should be lovely none the less, especially with (American) tourist numbers being so low.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear1

Although I don't live in or near a hotspot, I do worry about local lockdowns, both for me being able to leave home or being able to stay.
Has the industry, both home and abroad, tackled this issue yet and confirmed our position if at the time if the booking there were no restrictions in place, but were at the booked date? How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0
