OH MY WORD!
Just checked my spending account and what a difference taking his debit card away has made! I need 300 for my housekeeping and his spending money over the next 2 weeks, I usually have less than that in by now.. And I actually have 450 pounds in there!!!! I've had a terrible day at work and this has cheered me right up. So much so I'm doing a little victory dance in my chair!0 -
glad that taking the card away has helped you and making your life easier, you certainly could do with the help, you have worked so hard to achieve this so well done.0

OH has been paid today, am trying to pay the CC bills online but it keeps throwing up an error when I try and put the payment through so I have either paid Barclaycard 117.91 4 times (hope not!) or not at all. That will be debt no. 3. Topshop card will be debt no 4 and I may as well do that one as well!
Victory dance anyone??

Just goes to show what a little self-control can do, doesnt it? I dont feel like I've missed out too much either as the little treats I've allowed myself have made cutting back so much easier.
The driver's side headlamp of my car smashed as I was driving home from work yesterday, a stone must have flicked up out of the road but I have a friend who is going to help me out with a new one and it shouldnt cost me much more than getting him a couple of pints.
HSBC's website is being awkward today and wont load past statements, but I could do with it to work out my budget again. Grr.0 -
Am I too late to join in the Victory dance? 4 gone and just 1 left. Excellent progress.:j0

Went out for a lovely meal with friends last night and one of his fishing pals dropped him right in it. A few of them are putting together to buy an 9ft boat with an outboard motor for their fishing trips! Seriously. A boat.
I think I may let him buy a share in it just so I can chuck him overboard.0 -
I would say a whopping big, shouty NO to this.
NO NO NO
You have done so well to get this far. Do not let him do this to you.
(Pulls neck in and get back to minding own business!)0 -
Oh, don't you worry, he knows the score.
Cheeky bleeder DS1 had a tenner from me to go to the cinema yesteday. I told him I wanted change.
He came back with 5 pence. He'd lent his friend money to get a drink and had a go on the arcade machine. OH told him next time he is only getting 7.50 if he cant be trusted. I nearly fell off my chair!0 -

:rotfl: :rotfl: Talk about kettle calling the pot black! He obviously didn't realise how hypocritical of him this sounded. Well done on taking away his cards. You have tried really hard to get him on board and to treat him like a trusted partner, but he has repeatedly thrown this back in your face, and still overspent.
So now you can see what a difference his being unable to spend has made, so you know you have made the right decision.
As for the boat. He really doesn't get it does he. I would ask him how long he is going to save for to have his share because none of your money, or money that SHOULD be spent on the kids etc is going towards his savings. Or I would suggest that if he want to be part owner of a boat, that he is going to have to NOT renew his golf membership, sell all his golf paraphenalia, and concentrate on his new hobby, because he can't do two expensive hobbies. One is bad enough.
I really feel for you, and it makes me realise that I am SO lucky with my non spending OH.
Well done for paying off the cards. By the way have you told OH that YOUR WAY worked ref paying them off ie not getting a loan? Bet he has forgotten all about it by now if you haven't!
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
