Well, thanks to the newley paid off Virgin cards, DH and I had a wonderful meal at Cafe Rouge last night. 4 courses with drinks and it cost us the grand sum of 18 pounds including a tip.

Today I will be investigating recipes for chicken, bacon and roquefort salad. Wow.

Now for the naughty bit. I wanted a new outfit for last night, so I spent 50 quid on my topshop card. I will go and hang my head in shame.

just a message to say you've made so much progress and hope you're feeling much more positive about everything :D

please dump that topshop card! i bet it's 29.9% or more

    Well, I'm back.

And to be perfectly honest the holiday was a bloody nightmare and DH and I have hit rock bottom. He was more selfish than ever. Not with money now, but with his time. He's now said he "cant spend all his time" with me and the kids or he would be "not very nice to live with" and because he's an only child he needs time "alone"... Funny thing is, "alone" is on the Golf course or at the fishing lake with his mates, so I'm a bit puzzled how that constitutes being "alone".

    Ho hum.

Anyway, back to it. Hope you'll be reading, I have the feeling this diary is going to get a bit tumultuous.

Nice to see you bavk MM. I wondered where you'd gone. How about you? Don't you need some time away from the kids (and OH) too?

What's sauce for the goose etc.

    how's things apart from that?

  • Glad to see you back MM although sorry to hear OH is still being a selfish wally. Im sure youll find the strength to deal with it. How about prioritising him the same way he prioritises you and the kids?

Oh yes. I'm already steps ahead with that. We're quite a fun trio now, me and the boys. He's missing out. Mum has bought the kids a Wii fit board so we've been having tons of fun on that.

Have signed up for a Yoga workshop (free!) with my sisters in a couple of weeks and I'm going to have a look at that as my hobby. It's a Friday night and I will not be organising a babysitter. If he wants to go out, he can do it.
  • Biiiiiiiiiig Bump!

Still keeping on keeping on with all the budgetting, we did have a bit of a wobble but I've confiscated the cards again and my loan is more or less paid off so we will soon be £170 a month better off.
I've got a job interview coming up soon for a job paying more than 7k a year more than I'm on now. I've decided even though it's a few more hours I'm going to give it my best shot. If I get it it will put our combined income on more than 43K a year and get us firmly on track.
More car trouble, but Mum and Dad have offered me an interest free loan whenever I need it if I decide to buy another.
The kids are lovely, as ever, and I'm looking forward to a weekend away with my Mum and sisters at the end of Sept.

Will keep you posted about the job!

Hi MM - I've just read your thread all the way through and its nice to see you back. Good luck with the job interview, I will keep my fingers crossed.

You sound like a saint to put up with your OH! Mine is quite similar, he spends a fortune on clothes and DVDs for himself and is selfish with his time, but I haven't got the energy just yet to confront the situation as I have my own worries.

    Good luck and keep posting,

    Percy

Just read your post all the way through, you have done so well despite oh sabotage efforts and managed to afford treats, days out and stuff for kids.
Makes me realise how lucky I am with my oh as hes very good with money, sometimes maybe bit too tight!
I was annoyed as gave him 340 quid last month to pay off egg card and he dident said it was absorbed with cost of living!
Your job sounds fab as 1200 part time plus perks of free travel sounds good.
As for food money, dont beat yourself up we are trying to mange on £200quid budget, 50quid a week for 2 adults, growing toddler, no pets and includes toilitries as have previposly way overspent! I have joined august grocery challange on os board, read all their tips and started cooking from sctratch, batch cooking, making bread ect. I activly hunt the bogoffs and buy own brand still finding it a struggle but step in right direction!
Petrol and car a struggle as petrol so pricey and car like financial blackhole at the moment but essential, I run my vespa which si much cheaper and paid up until new year and luckily petrols cheap!
