Hi MidlandsMum,
I started reading your thread about 5pm, then had a break to make supper, get DD to bed etc. and then sat down and read the whole lot from start to finish. Phew!!!
Just wanted to pop along and say hello and a BIG well done, it sounds like it has been tough along the way but you have really handled your challenges (OH!!) well.
I for one will be looking out for your future updates.
best wishes

Aw, thanks everyone for your lovely messages, I didnt expect anyone would reply!!!
Nope, the cashback was declined ages ago and to be honest I couldnt be bothered sorting it. Naughty of me, but I was too busy having a life.
Bit of a setback about the interview, it's been put off for a couple of weeks but the manager at the shop is very keen to meet me, so the HR dept say.0 -
Well, the loan's all gone. That makes me £170 a month better off! Thanks to the increase in prices that will probably get absorbed elsewhere but I'm feeling positive it will make things more comfortable for Christmas.
OH has been great recently, he's decorated the kitchen and is looking at new flooring, he's staying in a lot more. Bit of a pity I've had to start getting up extra early now the eldest boy has started high school meaning I'm wiped out by 10pm!
Still not heard anything about the interview but since then I've been offered the chance for something very exciting at work that's all a bit top-secret but is going to take some hard work on my part. Onwards and upwards!0 -
Hi,
Lovely to hear your update.
Glad OH seems to be pulling his weight a bit more. How did you manage that?!!

After the disastrous holiday we had he kind of got his head together and I think he's finally realised how much I do about the place.
Now my (our) debt is just credit cards it's going to be a lot easier to sort everything out. I do have a small (£100) overdraft on another account but it's not costing me anything. I've decided to go from Smallest debts to largest ones again so I feel I'm making some progress. I've continued to overpay on all cards but I may re-look at this so the lowest rates just get the min from now on until I've smashed the highest ones.
We're still in the brown stuff really, but at least I'm doing something productive.0 -
I have a bit of a dilemma.
My car has had it. It's a 13 year old Peugeot with a few bumps and scrapes and the work it will need to get through it's next MOT in March will cost more than the car is worth. I bought it 4 years ago for £1000.
There's an offer in the paper my OH thinks I should take up now my loan is gone. It's a brand new tiny little runaround for £90pm (0%) over 5 years. Cheap tax and insurance and no MOT for three years. By the time it's paid off my son will be 17 and will possibly be needing a car so he can have it.
Do I take this offer or buy another cheapo second hand banger?0 -
Tough one
If its new and saves on running cost such as mot and repairs then may well work out cheaper and have a resale value so I can see the value in that and there is always a risk with old bangers having hidden problems - as I have found!. Main thing can you easily afford the £90 a month?:j0
