I had not thought of this. And as someone else said, what happens re: refunds (or credit card protection) for instance for holidays this Summer if they get cancelled?
Shouldn't make a difference. They obviously can't avoid their obligations under the consumer credit act by cancelling your card.
I had a refund after two and a half years for a product which developed a fault during it's warranty period, I provided new card details and they refunded to that. If they insist on refunding to the original card then it may go into a holding account and you'll then have to contact the card issuer.

  • I´m waiting a refund from Ryanair for cancelled flights. Likely to drag on until after my Asda Card is cancelled and I have no confidence that Ryanair will  make any effort to contact me to query my card info or ask for new card details.

This is also my concern. I have an assortment of tickets bought for things that will probably be cancelled later in 2020 and some of them are on this card. I'd be interested to know (or speculate) whether those requesting a Creation card will get continuity of having the same card number, if so I might transfer purely for peace of mind. Thank you for your reassurance philw.

Regarding the "research" angle of discussions, I've had the green fee free card since July 2015, have always received cashback to the card (not vouchers), used it for various amounts of spending but typically £200 to £500 pm recently, hardly shopped in Asda, never paid any interest, and have been offered zero cashback on any new card. Letter references CL6 and L0008.

I agree, I have an amount of cashback due and am also not happy that vouchers are not valid for online groceries especially in the current situation,  I rely on grocery deliveries too. Email has been sent to Asda about this, I await in anticipation their reply.
    Have you received a reply?
I really need to use the voucher for grocery deliveries too.

For the record, the code number on my letter begins with L0005 ...
I get my cashback in vouchers.

Received our letter - L0006 / Ref CL4 - Was on the black card receiving vouchers.  Just offered a replacement Creation card with no cashback :( - Looks like we will be going back to using either the Aqua Reward or Barclaycard cashback card (both with 0.5%) unless anyone knows of any better ? - Not Amex though.
  • An update re money back vouchers.   I phoned 0371 4028914 to complain.  I had printed off voucher not realising I couldn't spend it online for groceries.  So I only had until 8 June to redeem, in person, in store!  She has reinstated my voucher so it is unclaimed. I now have until 12 September to recreate voucher and then time starts running out.  Hopefully I won't be self isolating by then or (even better) Asda come to their senses and lets us spend it online for groceries. Do you think Trading Standards would be interested in this c*ckup?

2% cashback on spend everywhere for me. Received my letter on friday.

    L0002 is my code.

Really happy with that, ill be staying with Creation. Will work out a lot better than asdas card.
How is that even possible, Asda have never offered that much in cashback with any of their cards.
The best on offer was 2% in Asda and 1% everywhere else which got reduced a couple of years ago to 0.2% everywhere else.
My code is L0002 aswell, automatic transfer on to Creation Cashback Premier Credit Card, with 2%   Cashback, unlimited - no caps or limits on the cash back you can earn.

Same interest rates, same credit limit, same £3 monthly fee. Don’t need to do anything, use existing card until new one arrives in August.

FYI - currently have black card, spend about £1000 a month on shopping etc, mostly paid off in full but have sometimes run a balance on it, after Christmas, whilst on holiday. From memory I’ve had card about 4 or 5 years, started on 2% ASDA Cashback with vouchers, which was reduced a year or so ago.

I am expecting a refund on holidays to be taken in June. I won't cancel now as I shall lose my deposit. I paid on my Asda/Creation card. I am wondering how I will get the refund if it comes through after 13 July and is refunded on that card. Watching the situation very carefully!!
Me too I am waiting on a £800 refund that they don’t want to pay up on at the moment and more for flight tickets in August
