My IHG credit card became one of these but I don't find the scheme rewarding enough to justify spending on it.Fag packet time ....Freedom rewards give one point per pound spent - 1750 points are worth a fiver = 0.286% is that right?Standard B/C rewards card pays 0.25%🤔0 -

Barclaycard Rewards
You will have to call them and get your existing card changed to the Barclaycard rewards Cashback one.Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0 -
dr_adidas01 said:Nope Freedom rewards is the one where you collect points on everything you buy, which you then turn into vouchers to spend in selected Retailers, they don’t offer the Freedom Rewards card to new customers anymore. You will have to call them and get your existing card changed to the Barclaycard rewards Cashback one.J_B said:Fag packet time ....Freedom rewards give one point per pound spent - 1750 points are worth a fiver = 0.286% is that right?Standard B/C rewards card pays 0.25%🤔

Base earn rate is 1 point per £1 spent.
Point value is 1/350 = 0.286%
It doesn't work as a scheme for me, even if you do get double points on supermarket spend. They can also take your points from you if you make a blip like missing your payment date or going over your credit limit.
I'm of the opinion that the only use for the card is for stoozing if you can talk the call centre into giving you a decent 0% offer.1 -

"We currently cannot provide any information about the particulars of the new card, only that we are working hard to get this up and running as quickly as possible. I can confirm that the card will not be available for 13th July. Unfortunately, the launch date will not be until later in the year. "
So in the market for a cashback card in the interim. Slim pickings... Possibly Barclaycard, as I've already an AmEx card. That's going to come as an unwelcome surprise to the many people that aren't on here and don't have another card. Fortunately, I obviously am and do.So, thanks yet again to MSE, a new cunning plan is called for. I've just retained my Creation account. This will tide me over while I apply for the Barclaycard. At 0.25%, this means that we'd only lose 0.75% on transactions at ASDA (Online shopping & car fuel) and actually gain 0.05% everywhere else.I've just spent the morning number-crunching the NatWest 1% cashback card and switching my current account from my Santander 123 Lite account, which pays 1%, 2% & 3% cashback on council tax & utility direct debit payments. It was very close, but the 0.25% cashback on supermarket fuel and the 2.75% fee on foreign transactions were showstoppers.Of course, I'll re-evaluate the situation when the new ASDA card arrives. And, as the Barclaycard doesn't charge for foreign transactions, it can replace our current Halifax Clarity "foreign use & back-up in the UK" card, which doesn't pay cashback. There was an unexpected benefit: as the Barclaycard is Visa and the Halifax card is Mastercard, I'll keep the Halifax card as a foreign backup card. Some automatic fuel pumps in France only work with Mastercard or Visa not both and some motorway toll machines don't work with Mastercard. The tartan bits of my DNA are feeling all warm & fuzzy."Life is much/far too important a thing ever to talk seriously about it." Oscar Wilde, in "Vera; or, The Nihilists” (much), then "Lady Windermere's Fan" (far).0 -

Might be easier just doing a chargeback against them and be done with it.0 -
I gave up looking, didn't want amex for the 3rd time, so went with m& s £25 up front, .20% in vouchers, not much but better than nothing. The days of capital one 1% on everything seems a world away.0

There was an announcement about the Asda credit card in store today, telling people to go online to check what was happening.
I created a voucher, for a relatively small amount, which I successfully used at a Scan & Go booth today, so at least I know that works. But, when I log into my account, I see the voucher I have created, but no way to convert my remaining cashback into further vouchers. Anyone know how,. before I try and contact them?0
