Has anyone had a refund from Ryanair for a lower amount than they have paid for flights?
I was due £260.80, Ryanair offered me that amount in vouchers which I refused, today I received an email saying they would process the refund of £151.06.
My refund was exactly what I paid. I’m just waiting for my refund now for the April flight.

Heard nothing since my refund request on the 30/03, but received this email today.  Not sure if its good or bad news...
    Our Ref:xxxxxx
    Dear Customer,
I refer to your recent request for a refund on your booking confirmation xxxxxx.
Due to the high volume of flight cancellations due to COVID 19, we are experiencing an unprecedented high volume of requests. We are currently working through the backlog and ask that you please bear with us.
Please do not resubmit your request.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
    Yours sincerely,
    Ryanair Customer Services
Same here. Infact I've received that email twice from Ryanair today.
25/03 - Our flights were cancelled (Booked for Easter)
27/03 - Requested a refund and received an email confirming this.
09/04 - Email from Ryanair confirming refund request is in a queue
21/04 - Received voucher for value of flights cancelled
28/04 - After being unable to get through to Ryanair to request refund (again), used facebook message to confirm I still wanted refund.
16/05 - Began chargeback via Tesco Bank. Advised via email of the request and that they are busy and taking 6 weeks to process refunds. 6 weeks is a week tomorrow. I will then contact them.
08/06 - Heard nothing from Ryanair, so spoke to agent via Live Chat who (again) placed me in a queue for refund.
09/06 - Email acknowledging I wanted a refund and not voucher
19/06 - Two emails received confirming Ryanair are working through the backlog.
As a follow up to my previous post, I have just received an email today from Ryanair stating that the full refund has been issued and will be with me in 5-7 working days. Promising, but I'll update if I see the money.
Money back in my account today!
So from cancellation 25/03 to receiving the money 26/06, just over 13 weeks.

It's 'only' for £155 for the 2 return flights to Milan in April but doubtful we will be flying for the foreseable.

Did start a chargeback with Tesco, but at least I dont have to chase that now.

  • Hoping someone might be able to advise?
I have a flight booked to Ireland due to depart 03rd July and return 05th July. We were due to attend a wedding which has since been cancelled. Irish guidelines stipulate that people travelling in to the Rep of Ireland should quarantine for 14 days  but this will not be possible.
Ryanair will allow amendments at £30 - £40 per person per sector.
I have an annual travel policy taken out in December. Can I claim via my policy? Can I claim via my credit card?
I'm not sure if it comes under the disinclination rule? It's less about not wanting to go and more that quarantine is impossible.
    Any advice gratefully received.

Forget quarantine, you'd likely be travelling against UK FCO advice which is a claim in itself - it looks like the FCO advice may change on the 4th July, which means you'll still be able to use this as your claim basis.

I think you'd be best off approaching Ryanair first as it's likely to be a condition to insurance or credit card claims that you have attempted a resolution at source. If I were you I'd ask for a full refund, or if you're confident you'll be travelling in the future with Ryanair they'll probably be happy giving you a full value instant use voucher. If they refuse both then I'm not sure about insurance, but the credit card company should be able to help as it is clear cut that you shouldn't be travelling abroad right now, and shouldn't be penalised for that.

Got the email a couple of days ago saying they had processed my refund and today it was in my account! I actually made £4 as the flight was booked in Euros and the exchange rate was on my favour! Glad this is all over and good luck getting your refunds
  • Does anyone know how it would work if I have claimed a refund from both ryanair and easyjet for a refund but since the booking I've paid the credit card off and closed it?
    Thanks

Anybody know if they’re issuing refunds in full (two journey legs) where only one journey leg is cancelled? Do they pay up out & return if, say, out is cancelled but return is still scheduled to operate?
Have the same issue but the other way round, outbound flight is still OK but return flight is cancelled. Am trying to get through by phone to ask before i try the website and go through the headaches everyone seems to go through. Will let you know if I get anywhere. Don't suppose you have any update?

Right, just spent an hour on hold so that I could speak to an actual person but did get through. The agent said that both flights can be cancelled and claimed for so she has done just that. However, she said it could be up to 10 weeks before I receive the money on the original card I paid with. Also, they don't give a confirmation email of the cancellation the agent makes at the time of the phone call so you just have to trust them. She said I would get an email when the payment back to me is actually made. In the meantime I took the Agent's name and number and got her to confirm the amount I'd get back. Let's hope there aren't any hitches!

    Hi,
Lon - Dub on 29/6, schedule change by 2h40min. I realise <3h is 'minor' for Ryanair but the flight number has also changed. I haven't accepted these changes but was notified a while ago.
    The MSE article states:
If you're moved to a different flight altogether (ie, a different flight number) you'd likely be covered under different, far tighter EU flight cancellation laws
    and seperately:
When a flight is cancelled, however long before it was due to take off, you have a right to choose between...
    • EITHER a refund for the flight that was cancelled...
Is this robust? I couldn't find a direct source. The Ryanair telephone agent was firm in his denial and classed it as a minor change, not cancellation.
Reading this thread and the struggles people are having I may be best just leaving it. I won't be flying to Ireland obviously.

The EU regulation 261/2004 is published at https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/HTML/?uri=CELEX:32004R0261&from=EN - article 8 is the specific bit you're interested in....
