@malcolmjlowry I have learned from this previously and always take ongoing going grabs of chat conversations.
This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!

My flight wasn't cancelled but due to the restrictions in place, WHO advice, my employment and health conditions I couldn't fly. I spent the best part of a week trying to contact Ryanair to cancel my booking but to no avail. The website prevented me unbooking.
My hotel & Vueling(return Flight) have allowed me to move the bookings to November.
After two months AXA travel insurance have advised me to try again to get a refund off (Ryanair) them as they quote ''me unable to travel due to restrictions in place'' as a reasonable for me not using the flight.
     But where do I stand.:-
Ryanair refuse as flight wasn't cancelled.
AXA Travel keep saying I should be claiming off Ryanair.
I paid by debit card so do not know if that will allow me to claim.

Ryanair have no liability to refund you if the flight went ahead and you just didn't show up.
You can't claim a chargeback as Ryanair provided the service they said they would. You didn't turn up.
You need to keep on at your insurance if you have pandemic cover. If not you get nothing back.

and I guess the tax paid would not be worth claiming with Ryanair admin fees

I had flights booked to Italy (Brindisi) at the end of July. I was playing a waiting game until I received a mail from Ryanair on Weds informing me they have cancelled our flights. A very easy procedure to click a link for refund on their website.
I can only presume the flight was not very full hence the proactive cancellation on their part.
No it’s just Ryanair lying as usual. I did the same. They’ll just send you another voucher link in a week or two. I’ve moved on to chargeback now.

Am very easy procedure <LOL>, but don't hold your breath for a refund. I have been asking since April.
I too have filed a claim for charge back

I wouldn't have had any accommodation or a flight back. They've moved my bookings until November. Ryanair did not provide me the chance to cancel or re-book.
The Insurance company say that I should chase Ryanair as the WHO and the Spanish government advised against all non-essential travel. It was effectively a flight I couldn't use.
I had cover for my conditions which is also a reason not to travel why aren't AXA refunding and pushing me onto Ryanair.

When you booked with Ryanair  did you book a return?

New User name as MSE gave me a number in my old one.

No the return was with Vueling
  • We’ve flights booked with Ryanair to Lisbon on the 20th June. Recently had an email telling me Ryanair have changed the flight time (outbound) and we can either confirm the new flight or contact customer services to ‘move’ the flight.
I had a look at the website and Ryanair are running one flight a day to / from Lisbon every day. These flights are not being cancelled.
I’m concerned that by accepting either of Ryanair’s options I’m either committing  to A flight I don’t want or forced to book something else rather than get a refund.
    Anyone else had this?
