Ryanair refund thread

    Flights due on 27th May. Cancellation email received on 7th May. Logged into account on 8th May and processed the refund application form, taken to a page that confirmed " once approved your refund request will be processed within 20 working days to the original form of payment and should show in your account within the next 5-7 working days" 

    15th May received an email (no subject title so looked like spam) offering a voucher or refund in a year if voucher not used. The link to request refund instead takes to a page about the voucher or a chat bot. Tell the chat bot that it's answer didn't help and you get in the queue to a real person. At this point I stopped using my phone and started again on my laptop expecting it to take hours.

    Got connected to an assistant surprisingly quickly who gave me the answer that due to staff having to work form home that refunds can only be processed once the Covid19 situation has abated but would request it.

    I then received an email within 10 mins confirming that I do not wish to receive a refund voucher at this time and I remain on "the cash refund queue". Of course I may still use my voucher while i wait. 

    As my refund is for just under £100 I will wait for now but would hate to have £1000s at stake. 
    The most important part of the email being the first two words, "Once approved". They are not saying when "they" will approve your claim, it could be 12 months.  Only then will the up to 28 days apply.

    We requested a chargeback through Santander around 10 days ago and the refund has arrived today.

     I requested one via M&S and was told me 60 days.

    Got my Ryanair chargeback from Barclaycard, applied 23rd April, they just texted me today that they have refunded the money. They way I see it is that since Ryanair claim that they don't have enough staff to process refunds then the chargeback scheme is doing them a favor!. Of course Ryanair are lying and have every intention to keep hold of your money for a cancelled flight for as long as they can but of course this can't be proven. They should support the chargeback scheme if they had good intentions, just my view.

    Good intentions and Ryanair (they)  never deserve to be in the same sentence. (apart from this one :) )

    Can I please ask, how did you apply? I queried the transaction on line as advised in Barclaycard's help pages and was asked to post a copy of the voucher, so I'm not sure whether I've applied for chargeback or section 75. 

    Also, was the value of your flights more than £100 each, each way. Ours were £160 in total for two outbounds. It's just that i read something suggesting you can't claim chargeback of the value is under £100 each.
    This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune! :doh:

    Chargeback is any mount
    S75 is for over £100 to £30,000
    Chargeback will be quicker than S75
