  • As most others, but on Monday finally got through on chatline and repeatedly refused voucher; eventually got agreement that I would get refund - only after virus crisis had been resolved! Got them to send transcript of chat as evidence, but hope weight of public opinion will finally sway outcome. I have to say though that companies with such a bad trading ethic should not be in business.
  • Hi, it is pointless clicking on the button within the email with the voucher as they do not respond at all. I tried for four days all day and there was no response. So I emailed them on customerqueries@ryanair.com and the reply contained the chat button which after many attempts worked and I got the resolution and refund confirmation via chat and transcript emailed to me. I have no money as yet but it is a step forward. Try it but you must be patient as the chat is so busy you will not be able to fill in the initial form with all info. Just get what you can and click submit button and good luck

I have just posted this on the other RA thread but thought I’d also post here

By the time Ryanair start returning the money I suspect I’ll be booking flights again with them. I too would prefer a refund but coming round to the voucher idea. What I can’t find out is are they giving refunds/vouchers for full costs ie luggage seats etc or just the flight element? Equally if they go bust and we are covered same question full refund or just the flight itself?
    thanks
  • Just went on Ryanair's official Facebook page last nighr, and it took me a few minutes to politely tell the Company that I wanted a refund. I used the Bot on the lower right of the page. Have all your emails handy, because it asks you every detail about your flight booking and your voucher details.
Coppied and pasted them in no time at all. Thought about a good rant, but it's a waste of time to a poor innocent little Bot, but put an Angry character at the bottom!!
The Bot confirmed my request, I copied the conversation and pasted onto my word document, job done.
We all know the nature of the Beast, so why are suprised?
Try not to get angry and hopefully the regulators will be able to provide some justice.
Meanwhile vote with your feet if you feel angry, but please don't smack the Bot

  • I am only owed 56€ by Ryanair so the credit/debit card refunds do not work for me.

I am considering issue of proceedings in  the European Small Claims procedure. Has anyone tried this method for refunds and any advice would be appreciated

You can of course file a claim under Small Claims court.  But let's be frank, it's unlikely to get your refund any quicker than letting this play out and waiting for Ryanair.  Like airline customer service departments, the court systems have ground to a halt due to social distancing and working from home etc.  There'll be a huge backlog.

I have applied for 2 refunds (2 bookings for same trip) from Ryainair for a trip which should have taken place on 30th March 2020 with friends and because we are unable to travel together for the forseeable future a refund is the best option. I was promised them via email and later received a further email thanking me for my patience. Yesterday the emails came with the travel vouchers asking me to follow a link if refunds were preferred. This wasn't simple and didn't take me to a refund request so I followed the complaints link and made 2 complaints one for each booking, however 1 complaint was acknowledged immediately, but I haven't received anything for the 2nd complaint. It also stated in the small print that refunds would probably only be made once the Covid crisis is over. We have to pay in full when booking flights, so now Ryanair are also earning interest from all this money which belongs to its customers. I'm furious at the difficult process for simply trying to obtain a refund.

I am partly ashamed to say I gave up, we rebooked flights for a long weekend late in the year. I was getting really het up, which is not great as I have dicky heart which I found out today has got me on the government's vulnerable list, and we were half planning the trip anyway (pre-virus). I swapped 2 one way flights for return flights for 4 people, for £7 extra- so I'm choosing to focus on that rather than raging at a bot. Edit- I'm aware I may find myself in a spot later in the year but I will cross that bridge when I come to it, there is just too much going on at the moment.

Good luck to those fighting the blockade, it really is so unfairly stacked. I was half thinking of saying to Ryanair that I'd like to book a hotel through them, but I've had lots of unexpected bills this month so instead of paying I'll give them a voucher instead...

The biggest Con by Ryanair is that a travel voucher has a clock ticking from the date of issue for a 12 month validity.  Then 'poofff!' , it's gone, and they have your money.  Not much good if flights or travel are not going to happen for months and months.  It would have been much more customer friendly if Ryanair issued open or extended expirey dates - but what's fair for customers is not in Ryanair's culture.

But you've got that 12 months to claim a cash refund.
