Wait until you can convert the credit note to a refund or until (and if) they are forced to refund you.
  • We have a Jet2 package holiday to Menorca booked for August. I just can't imagine that the industry will be back up and running by then and given all the issues people are having now trying to get refunds, I'm wondering whether it would be best to just cancel now (have only paid a relatively low deposit) rather than risk losing £3k or being forced to go on a potentially sub standard holiday should flights resume but resorts not be quite what they would have been. Any advice/thoughts would be much appreciated.

That's exactly what you should do. Cancel the holiday and save yourself the hassle of chasing your 3k later down the line. Where you will probably receive a voucher which will limit how and where you travel in the future.
  • Paid a £120 deposit with Jet2, balance is due 20 May. Do we lose the £120 or pay the balance and move to next year when they cancel, because they will! (no way we are going to  Italy in July atm)
My problem is I bet next year they will be sky high prices, but right now we have no option other than lose £120 or pay more in July?

If you don't pay then the booking will be cancelled and you lose the £120 deposit.

If you pay the balance then if Jet2 need to cancel the holiday you will be entitled to a rebooking, a voucher, or a refund.

  • Were due to pay in may with a departure in July. Weve just had a family discussion and decided to cancel now as we would rather lose the deposit than spend the next god knows how many months of uncertainty trying to get the money back.

Jet 2 have really shown themselves in a bad light in my opinion, my only option now is to cancel by posting a letter recorded delivery and simultaneously requesting a cancellation be email. That way I will have two proofs that I requested a cancellation prior to the payment due date, this should help me get the remaining balance refund we paid on top of the deposit.

Jet 2 have forced me into this position as they have gone off the grid so how can I trust them by paying the balance and hoping they will cancel and be decent about it?

I appreciate holiday companies are struggling with the workload and their bank balance but If it was the other way round and I was struggling to pay they would simply refer to the terms, so it works both ways.

I have a holiday booked with Jet2 for the end of July to Portugal. I have paid the deposit of £240 along with an additional £1000. The balance of £2000 is due in a few weeks. If I cancel and don't pay the balance, I know I will definitely lose the deposit but will I also lose the additional £1000 I have paid off the holiday?

    Thanks
  • @Hallion

You are entitled to get the £1000 back providing you cancel the holiday more than 70 days before your departure date, this will be the payment due date. Their covid faq says anyone cancelling wuth a departure date after June 17th will be in line with the terms and conditions.

We were due to fly yesterday. Despite Jet2s promises of contacting us, we’re yet to receive any communication from them regarding refund.
