Organising a funeral during Covid

I think you are guilty of exactly what you are complaining about.
if you look at precisely what was said (page 2) carefully the funeral director stated their expectation for our specific area. That is not misinformation, it was their true expectation on 6/4. I will update with what happens. Even if their true expectation is incorrect it’s not misinformation. They never claimed what would happen simply their expectation. As you said attention to the specific words is required.5 -
To add to what others have said about a will. My fathers contained instructions for a funeral if needed. It also confirmed the body was to be donated via the local teaching hospital, and included all the paperwork to enable the donation to spring into action. Two good reasons to ask for and to refer to the will. Despite what any of us think we know about the wishes of another, surprises are common. There might be people in the will of whom you personally have no knowledge. Might it be worth considering that you are potentially receiving a steer for good reason?1

Report back on how "virtual funerals" are currently working.
I got sent the video link by the funeral directors in advance. Quite a simple process to input the two bits of information they had given me to "log in" and I sat waiting for the funeral to come up on my computer at the due time.
It "switched on" bang on the dot as the few attenders that could be there walked in and switched off on the dot when the curtain went round the coffin (ie crematorium funeral). Only saw those attending from the back and the volume control wasnt very good.
It was a lot better than nothing - but the technology is clearly in the very early stages and improvements are needed.
The cost of the video link add-on was £90 in the event.
So that's the verdict on how these things work out - ie worth doing - but they've got quite a long way to go to refine the process.3 -

Glad that there was no need of anything 'untoward' happening and your father got a dignified send off.

Puzzled at that post and puzzled at being quoted.
But I'm not going to waste mindspace on wondering.

Funeral directors are very rarely at the forefront of technological advances in video conferencing.
I'm sure they did the very best they could.1 -

Fingers crossed a second time on that one - because I've noticed them doing inefficient stuff since then and making this whole process more difficult than it need be....0 -

What happens after your requirement for their services ends isn't your concern.
Best wishes to you and your family. Stay safe.2 -
