Did anyone see the doctor on "This Morning" today talking about obesity and how if you get covid while you are fat you are much more likely to die? She was saying that it is nearly impossible to keep the weight off without surgery.
She might have been correct, she is a doctor, after all, but it was not what I wanted to hear while I was munching salad when I really wanted Ice cream, so I chucked a load of cushions at the screen and called her a stupid trout!. It is a good job television is one-way.
Wholewheat pasta and chicken salad with far less mayonnaise than usual.
Cottage cheese on (Danish) toast. Grapes.
Banana butty. No butter.

Honey I had seen that being obese could lead to problems if we get, it also seems 60% who end up in hospital are male as well as added issues for certain ethnic groups My manager advised us that the office is due a delivery of protection equipment on Thursday in preparation for a return to the office, I didn't remind him that asthma is strike one against me going back into a small office and now it seems my weight is strike two 😷
I've known people to lose weight and keep it off, often by permanently dieting 🙄 but yes more of us probably lose and gain it numerous times. I'm not sure if I'm ready for surgery to 'fix' me especially as the one time I had anaesthetic I was really sick 🤢 for hours afterwards and my blood pressure plummeted, but different solutions suit different people and we do what we need to do.

Morning All,
supersaver It's definitely an eye-opener when you see the weight you've lost/need to lose as a distinct thing. I remember a few years back, when I'd lost a lot of weight, lugging a suitcase through an airport and realising that I'd been carrying that around with me all the time.
TTB Coal's an interesting choice for a treat but it's good that you've got a visual reminder
monnagran I'd definitely prefer chocolate brownies to coal too, although there's significantly less chance of me eating the coal!! And hot chocolate with cream? What hot chocolate?
Brambling Feeling sluggish from bread's not good but at least it helped the angel with regards to the rhubarb crumble. I don't know what the government advice is going to be at the weekend but I would've thought that gearing up for people to return to the office is a bit premature. I think that even those in a lower risk category are going to be working from home for some time to come yet.
Blue Doggy Not out of order at all and, although I do generally drink quite a lot of water, I often have to remind myself to drink something and give it a while to see if I was just thirsty rather than hungry. Unfortunately the past couple of days have been ones where I can drink to the point where I'm glugging but still want to eat.
Sirens It definitely sounds like work's been interesting the past couple of days!! I don't know if I would've been able to resist dancing over the tiles and singing Lionel Ritchie
Honey Well done for having salad when you wanted ice cream and, no matter how correct she was, stupid trout indeed. Considering how stretched mental health services were anyway it's never going to happen but I think that providing counselling would be a much better option than surgery for weight loss.
Yesterday started off pretty well and then I had some really horrible news and reacted in my normal, oh-so-helpful, way by hoovering up anything edible that I could find. At least I had my planned dinner so managed to get a lot of vegetables as well as the vast quantities of rubbish.
Best of luck and stay safe everyone xx7 -
Hello everyone....I started to attempt to lose some weight on April 1st after getting on the scale and seeing a number at scared me! I needed to lose 1st 3lb (so 17lb altogether) and so far I've lost 11lb - calorie counting and upping my activity levels a little bit. I have thyroid issues which make weight loss hard, and exercising tricky, so I'm very happy to have lost as much as I have! Hope it's ok if I join as my dates match the challenge....nice to have some company.Changing my Family's Future!! - Starting again!!!!

Afternoon All
Well I've had a lovely day off so far, hung out my washing first thing then did 40 min on my exercise bike and then another 20 min HIIT on YouTube with the kids. I am pleased with my loss of -2lb, this week.
Honey that is worrying about catching the virus, I am classed as obese and it's bad enough commuting into work now, if they raise the lockdown, my train will be so much more busier, and social distancing will be impossible. I know surgery is a godsend for many, but I prefer to go at it under my own steam, even if it takes awhile.
Izadora, hope you are okay xx
Welcome aimeemum, sounds like you are making good progress.

Welcome aimeemum I've added you to the chart that's a great start 👏. Well done on loss Sirens 👏
i haven't done so well this week with a 1lb gain not helped by the bread but it's not solely to blame 🙄 my nephew delivered my lemon drizzle cake today and we talked in the garden with mutual friends who also briefly popped in, it's been a very quiet birthday 🙂 and I've been gifted chocolate!! And a couple of iou for a family dinner and a shopping trip 😁

Black_Saturn said:It was the associated risk to Coronavirus of being overweight which led me to make the decision to change, as I do not wish to fall victim to this awful disease.
Meals today are: lentil rasam with curried roast cabbage at lunchtime, and leftover veg kofta with fennel rice for later. There is also plenty of fruit for snacking on if hungry.7 -
Aimeemum, you are doing brilliantly. Welcome.
Sirens, It sounds really scary using public transport. It is nerve wracking enough being breathed on in shops, but at least there is somewhere to move to, unlike on trains or busses.
Brambling, Many happy returns. Lemon drizzle is worth a gain.
Today I had..
Rice pudding
Spaghetti bolognaise
Sausage butty. Plums. Orange.
Not the best, but nothing in-between, and no buckets of ice cream, so I am calling it a success!8
