avocadoseed wrote: »! I seem to have been defrauded by Onecom as/and Vodafone.
Here is my story…
I was aware that someone was calling me many times around the time so I was curious to find out who was calling and answered the call on 4th Dec 2013. I was told that was a sales manager lady from Vodafone.
(Today I was told that it wasn’t from Vodafone and was from Onecom!!!)
I am a Vodafone customer for 13 years.
The sales lady said that I am VIP customer so I am qualified to get a free hand set and a free contract. Below was what we discussed on the phone.
1. They will give me a free hand set
2. They will give me a 12 months free contract of £10.50.
(I need to start paying from the 13months if I wanna keep the number, but the contract is 12 month long. So in the theory, its free phone & contract.)
3. I can cancel anytime (“but why don’t you need to cancel? Because it’s completely free!” – this was what the sale lady said!)
4. They would take £21 monthly (£10.50 / my current contract and £10.50 /new contract) from my bank account but Vodafone send £10.50 as cashback to my bank account every month. So they took my bank details.
I asked and the sales woman confirmed that the contract is absolutely free more than 3 times.
Soon after I received new hand set, the contract started. About a month later, I got a bill, and then they took money from my bank but I don't see any cashback. I waited for a week after the payment to see if it would come through, but I don’t get anything. So I called Vodafone UK to find out what is going on.
I talk to a gentleman at their bill department on 191. He said…
“I can see your contract which offered a free handset but you need to pay £10.50 monthly for 12 months.”
I really couldn’t believe it.
I asked them to put me through to the complaint department.
I explained what we discussed with her about the contract at the first place, a lady from the complaint department said that they needed to listen to the initial conversation on their recording, so then they will call me within 3 days. However, they DIDN’T.
I called them again 5 days later.
They hadn’t listened to it yet. Another lady said that they would listen to it and promised to give me a call within 5 days.
Yes she kindly did call me today.
She said, “The person who made an offer wasn’t from Vodafone. She is from a Vodafone Partner Service. That’s why we couldn’t fine the recording.”
And she told me to call a Vodafone Partner service. It is Onecom.
I called Onecom using a number which she gave me. (033 33 044 550)
However, it was close. They open only 8am – 6pm on Monday to Friday.
I have to ring on Monday hopefully. See what they say. I hope that I can get what they initially said. However, it seems quite difficult I guess. So many people are victims of this company.
I really have no idea why I need to get involved to this company. I thought that I was having the contract with Vodafone, because I get the bill from Vodafone but my second phone is managed by Onecom. Its so complicated!!!
I am so stressed and sad. I didn't have any problem with Vodafone for 13 years. Now, after the lady from Onecom rang me, it went all wrong.
Thank you very much for reading this.
Please give me help and give me tips. It would be appreciated.
I will keep updating what is happening here.
Thank you.
I received a call from these people today stating my Vodafone account may now be due some additional benefits. More than a little dubious I asked the lady to prove who she was calling from. She had a previous address and knew which phone I had so quite likely to have access to my Vodafone account details. When admitting being from OneCom they offered to manage my account for free and give me a free handset and 24month contract. As it was totally free I finally agreed after a 30min call but ABSOLUTELY stated I was a consumer. This is the only way to get the 7 day cooling off period. As I partially rumbled them they have yet to send an email or txt confirming the dodgy deal (I pay and they reimburse). I phoned thier head office tonight to complain. I will be insisting every trace of my details are deleted from their database. I'll let you know how I get on. Their HO address is online, I am more than willing to pay them a visit :-)0 -

Hi,
This happened to me on Wednesday, I was sold a free phone under the pretence of a free gift from vodaphone, by who I thought was a Vodaphone rep, she knew my usage and tariff, and didnt make it sound like she was from onother company.
Ive sent the phone and sim back without opening them, I've told them its cancelled but because I'm a sole trader I dont have a 7 day cool off!
I was 'cold called', in an 1 hour conversation I got a zillion bits of info, but because I thought it was Vodaphone you have a degree of trust and a feeling you can send things back if your not happy, there is definitely a reason offcom insist on a 7 day cool off, because it takes that long for the info to sink in, irrelevant of sole trader or personal.
Ive spoken to onecom 3 times and each time they keep saying I waived my right to a 7 day cool off.
Do not fall for this scam and Vodaphone should know better than passing on so much information to 3rd parties..
Lee or someone help me, please, , I've sent you info as of point 34 above.
Many thanks0 -
My story is similar to what others have wrote...
Offered me a free phone, I was told they will pay for your contact for the 24 months. The spokes guy said it was a "Personal contact", you have a 7 days cooling off period. He then passed me on to the legal team.
Somehow the legal team switched it to a "business" contact with no cooling off period. I have requested to cancel and they said I can't, even though I haven't opened the packaging 3 days after the original conversation.
How can Vodafone let their partners trick you like this?
Here is the letter i wrote in response:
I'll update the forum when I receive a reply.
I received my handset a couple of days ago which was left sealed as I decided not to keep the second handset for reasons that I have no use for it. I emailed asking for the return procedure and yesterday I received a call from the original person I spoke to saying I could not cancel the contract because the verification team had superseded the original conversation and put me on a business tariff. In my original conversation I was told I had a 7 days “cooling off period” and yet somehow I was tricked into signing up for a “business” tariff instead by the legal verbal contract lady.
I would like answers to the following please:
1) Why was I switched to a business tariff when I original agreed a personal contact?
2) Why wasn’t it mentioned that I had “NO” return period by the legal lady?
3) Please provide me with copies of both conversations so I can take this further.
4) Why did you address yourself as “Vodafone” on your original introduction when clearly you are onecom?
I feel totally shocked with your “business” policy and I’m surprised how you treat Vodafone customers. I will certainly be taking this further and will be telling Vodafone that this is my last year with them because they allow such sleazy acts by their partnership company.
If you don’t arrange for the collection of this handset and cancellation of this agreement I will be force to take my actions further. I also feel for my trouble you should be paying for the return of the handset which is still in the original packaging and sealed.
I await your comments and the requested documentation, please advise when that will be available.
Yours sincerely,
Steve
(Personal phone user).
Ps. I tried calling your support line yesterday which I was kept in a queue for 15mins before getting switched to a ringing out tone for a further 5 minutes, and then I hung up. I’ve also sent 2 emails which have taken on average 2-3 days to get a response from, hardly good support, wouldn't you agree? Vodafone answer within 3 minutes for me usually.0 -
Onecom are advertising themselves as vodafone partner of the year. Given that they have twice been on bbc watchdog for mis-selling business contracts to personal customers and the number of complaints about them here and on other sites it does make you wonder if vodafone are actually 100% complicit in it (they can hardly plead ignorance or that they were not aware can they). After all vodafone have a lot to gain from this. Allow another company to scam customers (therefore keeping your nose clean) yet its vodafone that get the financial rewards.
But them after 12 years + with vodafone i know that they are a bunch of lying, scamming scum.0 -
