  • I had be caught like this - from what my ears recall i was offered a FREE ipad Mini & 2gb Myfi....which i thought sales person and Legal person was £63.30.
    ( i presently pay £70)
I now know after talking to a lovely Onecom representative called Beth who spent ages talking me through what the contract was and finding out lots of things for me that i would actually be charges £63.30 for my 4 lines and insurance, £7 for friends and family and £15 for the Ipad mini and 2gb Myfi.
So would actually cost me just over £85 a month which is nearly £15 extra !!!
She was great and has arranged for ipad to be returned and for my accounts to return to Vodafone.

its the sales reps who just want to sell and legel people that talk to fast to be aware of.

So the "completely free" tablet would have cost you £360 over 2 years or £540 over 3 years (several other onecom victims seem to have ended up with 3 year business contracts).

    You were originally told:
"As i was a really good customer of vodafone with 4 contract lines that i qualified for extra savings etc I could ether have a ipad mini or another phone for FREE."
"They said to have the ipad on my account would cost less than the
approx £75 a month that i pay at present for my contracts.
With the ipad mini and myfi 2gb ( 24 months) and 4 contracts that they could do for £63.30 + £7 for and asked what the catch was and he replied there wasnt one, that i had been a good customer and they was there to provide a good service and to keep customers happy....."

I guess they just "forgot" to tell about the £15 per month charge...

I'm glad you escaped from their clutches.

A pity Onecom often seem to "forget" to tell people the real cost of these "free" tablets, phones and extra lines

If it hadn't been for the intervention of the trusty voda rep, this might not have ended so happily...

Yep thats right - we already have 6 tablets in house so really didn't have need for another.
As for myfi ....all super markets have wifi and I dont go many other places that I would actually need to be online (my phone has good internet already)

  • My case was resolved, after creating a stir on MSE and Facebook, Twitter, OneCom contacted me and told me after returning the handset that would be the end of it. I still had to pay the return postage but I can live with that.

Thank you Voda Lee for trying to resolve it for me :T

  • ! I seem to have been defrauded by Onecom as/and Vodafone.

    Here is my story…

I was aware that someone was calling me many times around the time so I was curious to find out who was calling and answered the call on 4th Dec 2013. I was told that was a sales manager lady from Vodafone.
(Today I was told that it wasn’t from Vodafone and was from Onecom!!!)

I am a Vodafone customer for 13 years.

The sales lady said that I am VIP customer so I am qualified to get a free hand set and a free contract. Below was what we discussed on the phone.

    1. They will give me a free hand set

    2. They will give me a 12 months free contract of £10.50.
(I need to start paying from the 13months if I wanna keep the number, but the contract is 12 month long. So in the theory, its free phone & contract.)

    3. I can cancel anytime (“but why don’t you need to cancel? Because it’s completely free!” – this was what the sale lady said!)

    4. They would take £21 monthly (£10.50 / my current contract and £10.50 /new contract) from my bank account but Vodafone send £10.50 as cashback to my bank account every month. So they took my bank details.

I asked and the sales woman confirmed that the contract is absolutely free more than 3 times.

Soon after I received new hand set, the contract started. About a month later, I got a bill, and then they took money from my bank but I don't see any cashback. I waited for a week after the payment to see if it would come through, but I don’t get anything. So I called Vodafone UK to find out what is going on.

I talk to a gentleman at their bill department on 191. He said…
“I can see your contract which offered a free handset but you need to pay £10.50 monthly for 12 months.”
    I really couldn’t believe it.

I asked them to put me through to the complaint department.
I explained what we discussed with her about the contract at the first place, a lady from the complaint department said that they needed to listen to the initial conversation on their recording, so then they will call me within 3 days. However, they DIDN’T.
I called them again 5 days later.
They hadn’t listened to it yet. Another lady said that they would listen to it and promised to give me a call within 5 days.

Yes she kindly did call me today.
She said, “The person who made an offer wasn’t from Vodafone. She is from a Vodafone Partner Service. That’s why we couldn’t fine the recording.”
And she told me to call a Vodafone Partner service. It is Onecom.

    I called Onecom using a number which she gave me. (033 33 044 550)
However, it was close. They open only 8am – 6pm on Monday to Friday.

I have to ring on Monday hopefully. See what they say. I hope that I can get what they initially said. However, it seems quite difficult I guess. So many people are victims of this company.

I really have no idea why I need to get involved to this company. I thought that I was having the contract with Vodafone, because I get the bill from Vodafone but my second phone is managed by Onecom. Its so complicated!!!
I am so stressed and sad. I didn't have any problem with Vodafone for 13 years. Now, after the lady from Onecom rang me, it went all wrong.

Thank you very much for reading this.
Please give me help and give me tips. It would be appreciated.
I will keep updating what is happening here.

    Thank you.

i had, and took up offer for free phone and contract in nov 13, they sent me a cheque for £126.00, which i put in my account, that was after the 1st month when they took payment from my account , numerous phonecalls, and raising queries on the oncom site, got it sorted, other than that, i would have just stopped the dd, how can they charge you for a free phone, and free 12month contract, its free......she also said i could have upto 4 free phones and contracts.......sometimes if its too good to be true.....you know in your heart of hearts its going to be pure hassle, no such thing as a free meal, dreading going through the canceling it after the 12 month, will give them notice in october, and cancell dd start of dec.......should be fun....

I think I've made a big mistake and fallen for this today too. A free mobile and contract for 24 months, £13.50 will be credited to my account first working day of the month :(

Please, what is the best way to deal with this? I just want to rewind the day :(

First of all, great surname ;)

Don't open anything, just call them and tell them you want to cancel and return it.
