Firstly, can I say that I am grateful for any advice people are able to offer. It is a scary and confusing time, particularly when there are both so many people and so much money impacted at the moment.
I currently have a holiday booked for the end of July with TUI however have become increasingly nervous that even if it can go ahead, my family do not want to go. I am therefore looking at cancelling my holiday online via their website. The holiday is currently fully paid (£7k) therefore I wanted to check whether cancelling would automatically trigger a refund or whether I would be given a credit note by default. Looking at the T&C's it looks as though I stand to lose my deposit but as it is 80 days before I go am I right in thinking that my deposit is the only thing I stand to lose if I cancel the holiday? Has anyone else done this and what happened?
Thanks

What's the location of your holiday? There is a strong possibility that the FCO advice against all but essential travel will be extended into July in which case your holiday will be cancelled by TUI and you will be entitled to a full refund.MattB78_2 said:Firstly, can I say that I am grateful for any advice people are able to offer. How much was the deposit would you lose?

Hi - thanks for the reply. We're meant to be going to Bulgaria. Just nervous that once we go past 70 days before we go, it looks like the only way we'd get a refund is if they cancel otherwise we take the hit. I saw the picture today of the Belfast - Heathrow flight and it is like social distancing never existed! I must admit my head agrees with you but my heart is telling me to do something different!Crystalline said:

You do realise even on a flight that is a third full you are all breathing the same circulated air, yes?
Media doing a grand job of panicking people at the moment.0 -
I think it's £1k (but I'd get £6k back) but I'm now not sure if I cancel I would get any refund or not (the more I look the more confusing it looks). If they did give a refund less the deposit why would you get insurance for this (unless you had to cancel last minute then it would make sense). I hope that the TUI T&C's are as I read them, if you cancel you only have to pay the termination charge (on a sliding scale).Life__Goes__On said:How much was the deposit would you lose?0 -
I read it also you just lose the deposit, so money above that would need to be refunded by them.
Do you know if you are covered by insurance if Gov advice tells you not to travel because of COVID-19?

I doubt travel insurance matters here with a TUI package, if Bulgaria is closed and/or government advice hasnt changed by then, the holiday gets cancelled and he gets a refund.Life__Goes__On said:I read it also you just lose the deposit, so money above that would need to be refunded by them.
