ah, mine was direct debit payments, maybe this does explain why I have been waiting since mid-March.  I wonder if Tui finance offices are open or might they open next week and who knows, I might even see my refund sometime soon!.  I have tried numerous numbers but cannot get hold of them to speak to, I was on hold for 20mins and actually spoke to one person but he just told me it was the wrong number and gave me another one, which never answers!

We've just had our refund! Thought I'd post as it will give hope to those of you still waiting. I posted way back at the start of this thread to say that I'd been offered a BACS refund (weird when I paid via credit card), but have been waiting for it ever since. So it has taken from 6th April to today, just shy of a month.

Weirdly the refund is £91.55 short of the full amount, can't figure out why as this doesn't correlate to anything. I will of course take this up with TUI but at least I have most of my ~£5k back  :)

For those of you still waiting, persevere, they are evidently working through the refunds and will get there in the end.
Great news. Maybe someone forgot to remove a cancellation fee? My paperwork for refund had "fee override" & no figure beside it. Seem to recall someone saying they had a fee there.
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.

We're still waiting for £250 (from a total refund of £3400) that they haven't refunded. My partner paid it using his PayPal account. Apparently it needs to be done manually.

If you booked your holiday in a TUI shop then your only option is to keep on phoning. Unfortunately you can't pay the balance via your online customer account even if you have one.

If you booked online then it's much easier. You simply log onto your account and enter your card details.

Nobody can make TUI give you your refund.

Your rights are clearly stated in this link:

You don't say what stage you are at.
    What departure date?
What correspondence/verbal contact have you had with TUI?
Had you paid for your holiday in full?
Who actually cancelled? You or TUI?
Are you sure you are due a refund if you cancelled?

Have you read this link to TUI?
    Is this your situation?:
I REQUESTED A REFUND BEFORE YOU OFFERED A REFUND CREDIT, WILL I STILL RECEIVE MY REFUND?

Yes, if you’ve already requested a refund you’ll receive this back to your original payment method. We’re trying to process these as quickly as possible so please do bear with us.

    Re your vet bill:
I suggest you talk to the vet and see if they will agree to wait for the money you owe until you get your refund from TUI.

I was offered a refund on 16th March. On 23rd April I received my 2 deposit payments back. The accompanying email reads:

We’re writing to let you know that the following refund has been confirmed.
    £300.00
    £700.00
The remaining balance is shown below for your records.
    -£2,500.00

    BALANCE SUMMARY
    Total holiday price £3,500.00
    Total amount paid £2,500.00
    Balance overpaid £2,500.00

The following refund has been confirmed:
    Refund date 23 Apr 2020
    Refund £300.00
    from 789668******3585
    Amount refunded  £700.00
    Balance overpaid £2,500.00
There are a few ways you can pay your balance or make changes:

Are they likely to refund the rest automatically? This email doesn't seem to imply any further refund is coming. Only the £300 was CC with the other 2 payments being paypal.
  • Does anyone know if I rebook my (soon to cancelled) TUI holiday for say early summer next year and use the 20% discount code, and rebooked holiday then also gets cancelled due to Coronavirus can I use the 20% discount code again?
I appreciate no-one has a crystal ball about what might happen next year or what TUI might do, but just wondered if anyone knew the answer.
