We don't want to go on the holiday but to cancel is the remainder of the deposit, £1k. The balance of the holiday is due for payment on 16 May. Do I take the chance and pay the full balance and then hope it gets cancelled to then get a refund (or voucher to re-book for next year) or try and cancel it before 16 May? - I'm not sure they'll even allow that as their advice currently only applies for holidays up to 11 July.Paying the balance on a holiday is discussed here:You will need to scroll down.Be aware - there is no right and wrong answer. As for paying the balance of the low deposit, this has been discussed on this thread around page 49.
- pay the cancellation fee of £1k and lose £1,250
- Pay the balance and hope that the FCO advice is still the same come 5/6 weeks before departure, then probably get a credit refund and convert to cash or use for next year. We don’t want to go on this holiday this year or next as who knows if we’ll have jobs or not. I’m not sure I want to take the chance in case the advice changes and then you’d have to go on the holiday and stay in quarantine for the 2 weeks which no-one would obviously.
- Don’t bother paying the balance nor pay the £1k remaining deposit to cancel it. I know they can contractually but will TUI actually go after people for this considering the circumstances??

I want to write to TUI Customer Services via a recorded delivery letter asking for a refund. Does anybody have the address? All I can find on Google is their Head Office address in Luton. Is this the correct place to send my letter? Thanks.0

The challenge is actually getting through to them on the phone, it's complete luck as to whether your call makes it into the queue to be answered (after you have done the IVR), someone on another forum called 250 times in a row before making it into the queue, someone else 10 times.
Clearly the answer is to put in the option to request a refund online, TUI's managing is a very thinly veiled way of making the barrier to get a refund even higher.

Can anyone help. PLEASE
I've tried to pay the balance for a TUI hoilday for July 2020. due tomorrow. I've come up again wall after wall. I booked it in a tui store, I've tried calling all morning only to be told there is no-one available & to call back & the other number is engaged constantly. I can't pay online, ( I've tried) as it only seems to takes me back to holidays I've booked on line, in the past.
I've read on here conflicting accounts about how to go about it. One saying the store will be in touch & it won't be cancelled; & I won't lose my deposit; others saying that you have to pay on line.

Hi
Due to fly out to Cyprus on Wednesday (06/05). Have received an email from TUI offering a credit note and 20% discount on future booking.
Looking to book the same hotel in May 2021 with the 20% discount it works out much cheaper. My problem is, my wife has COPD and therefor is in the very vulnerable category. She has travel insurance that takes account of the condition.
If we accept the credit and discount book the holiday and then the advice is not to travel, will we be able to get another credit from TUI or claim on her insurance?

As COVID-19 is a known event now no insurance will cover this.
So if you take a voucher book for next year and you cancel your trip because of COVID-19 risk (and the holiday isn't cancelled by TUI) you lose everything.
New User name as MSE gave me a number in my old one.

We've just had our refund! Thought I'd post as it will give hope to those of you still waiting. I posted way back at the start of this thread to say that I'd been offered a BACS refund (weird when I paid via credit card), but have been waiting for it ever since. So it has taken from 6th April to today, just shy of a month.
Weirdly the refund is £91.55 short of the full amount, can't figure out why as this doesn't correlate to anything. I will of course take this up with TUI but at least I have most of my ~£5k back
For those of you still waiting, persevere, they are evidently working through the refunds and will get there in the end.1
