I booked our family trip in a store and our holiday on 4/4/20 was cancelled on 17/3/20 by Tui due to Covid-19. I went into the store on 20/3 after they phoned to confirm the cancellation and arrange the refund of £18k. According to the store, I would receive this within 14 days. I have the cancellation email from the store but I haven’t receive a penny.
I paid the deposit on a credit card, balance on a debit card and a small amount of cash.
I have tried phoning on numerous occasions, I’ve been told “I’m in a Store refund queue ” and “Sorry, I only deal with online bookings” I’ve waited patiently- as asked by Tui - on their web site and on their recorded phone messages, I even expected them to honour the 1st May deadline date - how very foolish of me!My question is, has anyone actually received a refund for a booking made “in store” and if any cash has been paid toward the holiday, how was this refunded?0 -
I've read others that paid in store are having issues, but think everyone is atm.
Well done for putting some on a credit card, at least you know the whole £18K is covered

I booked holiday with tui which obviously been cancelled was due to go away 8th may ..I paid it through paypal credit which was interest free if paid before 25th june .Does anyone think it would be in my best interest to ask paypal to claim the refund back for me

I booked and paid for a tui holiday through paypal credit which is interest free till 25th june but holidays ben cancelled not heard anymore from tui would he be worth seeing if paypal can claim the refund back for me ?

You can give it a go, but my refund was denied for a holiday transfer that I paid using paypal.1

Refund received within 2 days!
Ive been reading these posts for a few weeks with a holiday booked to gran canaria on 16th may.
This week when tui changed thier cancelled holidays to a later date i called them on thursday, it took about 50 calls to finally get on to the que and then another 1hour 20mins for them to answer.
I explained i didnt want vouchers due to not being in a position to rebook a holiday anytime soon. The lady said she had processed the redund and it would take 14 days. If i didnt recieve in 14 days to call back. (At this point i thought yeh right more like 6 weeks)
I called on Thursday at 3.30pm and still haven't recieved the email she said i would get after the call.
However, i checked my bank this morning and noticed the full refund had gone in after 2 days of requesting it!
It seems there is no system to the order of refunds atall which seems crazy when people have been waiting weeks and weeks.
I just thought i would share my experience to give some hope!2 -
Hi, we have got a holiday to Mexico booked with TUI on 10th July. This hasn't been cancelled yet, but I suspect it will be.My question is, if we accept a credit note rather than asking for a cash refund is the 20% discount off the original price or the new price?For example my original holiday cost £3000 but to book for next year it's £4000, will the 20% discount be £600 or £800?0

It's the new price, people have been finding the cost of the new holiday wipes out the extra 20%
I have little doubt TUI have done this on purpose, people thinking they have a deal getting the 20% but finding out that it's all taken up with the price increase.
The trouble with a voucher is they now have a captive market.
