TUI refunds thread

How many people out there do you actually think are looking at booking a holiday for that week? I wager it is "none".hollie.weimeraner said:TUI are a disgrace, I've just been on their website and they're still accepting bookings for flights and holidays from 14th May.0 -
They are still accepting bookings because if they don't display them as available then it implies that holidays on those dates are cancelled. This in turn allows the tens of thousands of customers who are due to travel around that time to put in claims for a refund.hollie.weimeraner said:TUI are a disgrace, I've just been on their website and they're still accepting bookings for flights and holidays from 14th May.
They are already swamped with refund requests and this would just make the situation significantly worse. These are difficult times for everyone, including travel operators.0 -
I myself personally do not want to wait 12 months to get my money back.A company that big must have insurance for situations like thisphotome said:To be honest I dont think you can blame them from trying to hold on to the money, if they refund everyone who is entitled to a refund they would probably collapse. They will probably try and hold out till the law is changed , which may not be too long and of course there are no courts to force them to refund right now, you could try your credit card company0 -
Nobody is asking you to wait 12 months. Have you read the info on the TUI website properly?2

Including The Independent who really should do better than reiterating the misunderstanding that people can't get a refund for 12 months in the video attached to their article. Very poor journalism.bradders1983 said:And the answer is they WILL give you a refund. Lots of people on here seem to have struggled reading the statement TUI put on their website at 4pm yesterday.

OP Paid £4000 for a product with TUI and if the product is not delivered the customer has to get their money back!!pelirocco said:Tui dont owe you £4000 they owe you a holiday
I have a holiday in June booked with Tui in June and a cruise with them in July , I also have a mini cruise with PO for the 16th April , I am not expecting to hear anything yet , I have already spent the money , so there is no point worrying about it . In the grand scheme of things its really not that important

I don’t understand why anyone is waiting around and complaining on social media, Tui are acting illegally treating thousands of customers’ payments like interest-free loans, they are a disgrace. I’ve sent them a letter before claim today telling them a ‘refund credit’ (which isn’t a refund) is unacceptable and if the full cost of my holiday isn’t in my bank account within 14 days I’ll lodge a court claim. Why should I waste hours of my time trying to get through on their phone lines to ‘apply’ for a refund that may never materialise? I don’t trust them one bit.

Does anyone know if all bookings which are cancelled and given a credit note will also be offered the 20% incentive to book? It says up to 20% so it could be dependent on how much you actually spent in the first place?0

Within 14 days? Behave. You would have to send them a Letter Before Action giving them at least 30 days first, 14 would be seen as not long enough, add to that the courts arent currently dealing with this kind of stuff.yorkshire_lass_2 said:I don’t understand why anyone is waiting around and complaining on social media, Tui are acting illegally treating thousands of customers’ payments like interest-free loans, they are a disgrace.
