It says it! In the words! Nobody HAS to wait 12 months for their cash as you claim!

2nd bulletpoint under "what does this mean for me" clearly says if you dont want to accept a credit you can ring up and ask for a refund. Nowhere does it say you can only do this after 12 months.2 -
I don't believe this has been picked up before (it's possible that it's only been added recently) however, there's an additional section on their site:
I REQUESTED A REFUND BEFORE YOU OFFERED A REFUND CREDIT, WILL I STILL RECEIVE MY REFUND?
Yes, if you’ve already requested a refund you’ll receive this back to your original payment method. We’re trying to process these as quickly as possible so please do bear with us.

I know Martin Lewis on his shows has stated we are entitled to a free refund or it’s up to us if we accept a credit note. However, TUI have just changed their terms and conditions according to this article by Liverpool echo titled TUI changed refund policy cancelled on 17th April 2.27pm.It is stated that TUI has changed their policy so now we have to either accept a credit note, or wait 12 months then you can apply for a refund. My full balance isn’t due until the end of April and the holiday is booked for end of July.
Looking for advice on what people think is best wether to pay the remaining balance or not. I don’t want to have to wait a year to get a refund of the money I have spent. Can TUI do this and just change their terms and conditions? Are we entitled still to a normal refund? What are our rights on this?0 -
Their website clearly says you can apply for a cash refund once you have the credit note. See the big TUI thread, I provided the link an hour or so ago.
Here it is

2nd bulletpoint under "what does this mean for me" clearly says if you dont want to accept a credit you can ring up and ask for a refund.
But you have to keep up payments at your end as well beforehand.
EDIT - I see your thread had now been merged into the main one.2 -
I think bradders & Anthony are BOTH correct. You can call the number given & request a refund once they've sent you the voucher, BUT it's more than likely it'll take 12 months to actually get through on the number they've given. Brace yourselves for a 12 months on hold, it's a "dedicated team".......of ONE!
I'm going to get some popcorn & a comfy seat & just wait & see what comes out in the wash. Look around you, hundreds dead every day in UK, & thousands round the world, helps keep things in perspective.
ABTA recently removed their comments regarding "we won't handle complaints about our members relating to the coronavirus refunds", so complain away & give them something to do during lockdown.Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.0 -
I too expect an early July trip to be cancelled and it’s all good they change t and c to help themselves but when I booked didn’t I agree to the t and c’s at that time , not one that they could make up on the day of travel even0

They are NOT stopping you getting your money within a reason timeframe. Yes they are making you jump through a hoop but they are not refusing you your money back.
Some people will be perfectly happy with a credit plus 20%. Some will be happy with the cash back.0 -
Yes Bradders, agree with you that you can request the refund after the credit arrives but I was just asking that when I entered in to the agreement with Tui shouldn’t they be the rules that are followed.0
