Yes , you must pay the balance to get all of the money back at some point . Otherwise it counts as a cancellation by you.

You need them to cancel the holiday , not you

  • We are due to go to Kos near the end of May for a wedding. It’s likely to be cancelled, but I was disturbed by what I’ve just read. Any credit note will NOT include a refund for extras paid for such as travel insurance (fair enough) or SEAT UPGRADES. Are they f*cking kidding me? We upgraded to the best seats at close to £400, and they say we lose that, when we were flying on THEIR airline. If they are still in business after this, I’ll see them in court.
  • Interesting link. I have no wish to be an unwilling creditor but I understand they have little choice. I will see if I can start section 75 on Monday. The problem with credit notes is they can then charge what they like, so the value of the note is completely at their mercy.
And they are NOT refunding any money paid to upgrade seats on the plane.

Tui dont owe you £4000 they owe you a holiday
I have a holiday in June booked with Tui in June and a cruise with them in July , I also have a mini cruise with PO for the 16th April , I am not expecting to hear anything yet ,  I have already spent the money , so there is no point worrying about it . In the grand scheme of things its really not that important
You’re wrong. They owe them £4000. By your thought process, you could book a holiday with them to Florida and they could send you to Benidorm. They can’t supply the holiday they bought, for the time they bought it, which is why they hope people will take vouchers. If they didn’t owe them £4000 the6 wouldn’t even be talking about refunds.

They've already clarified that whatever isn't eligible to be included on the credit note will be refunded, from their Twitter feed:

extras like seat upgrades added at the time of booking or through Manage My Booking – will be included in your refund credit. Flight extras – booked through http://flightextras.tui.co.uk will be refunded back to the original payment method

And they will also refund cash if you RING THEM AND ASK!

It says it! In the words! Nobody HAS to wait 12 months for their cash as you claim!
Feel free to quote the words that say that - and of course not the web copy filler but terms and conditions that underpin the transaction and confirm your viewpoint - Good luck with that and that’s my final word on the matter.
    From their Twitter feed:
once you've received your refund credit and called us to request a refund instead, we'll be able to advise processing time on this but it won't be 12 months so please try not to worry.

I feel this could be another stalling tactic by TUI. Has anybody received a credit note?? Or a refund??
I want a refund, I am not paying the over inflated prices they are offering.
My kids are having bigger problems with love holidays!

Milo, who started this thread got his refund. Think it was on page 6 or 8.  And I did read of someone else that said they got theirs, contacted by TUI on Good Friday before travel date, given the options & he picked refund, it was in his a/c by Tuesday........I didn't believe a word of it.  TUI haven't been proactive for about 6 weeks!
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.
