I'd imagine they simply don't have the funds in the pot to cope with everyone hitting a 'refund' button, and are clinging onto the cash.

Chargeback / Section 75 claim is probably your best bet.

It's now possible to request a voucher online (website) with Easyjet, however...

If you have requested an easyJet voucher this will be emailed to the easyJet account holder that made the original booking. Please note due to exceptionally high volumes vouchers may take several days to be issued.

The voucher is valid for 6 months from the date of issue. The voucher can only be used on easyJet.com using the same easyJet account as the original booking. Not available on the mobile app. The voucher code must be entered on the payment page prior to completion of the booking. Only one voucher can be used per booking.

If the new booking is greater than the voucher value, the difference must be paid by card. If the new booking is lower than the voucher value, the remaining value is stored and can be used on future bookings within the validity date. The new booking must be for flights only (including any seats and bags booked at the same time). The voucher cannot be used where other ancillaries are added such as cars or travel insurance. Vouchers cannot be redeemed via the call centre or at the airport.

Some booking types might not be eligible for a voucher and therefore a refund may be issued instead. If you made your booking via a tour operator, travel agent or OTA please contact them directly to get your voucher or refund. We are not responsible for any third party fees

My concern is what happens in 6 months, if things haven't settled down yet?

Further to my earlier post re; cancelled graduation....and Thank You Bagand96 for the reply... a shout out to Travelodge who are allowing people who have had to cancel  non-refundable bookings and instead are giving an online voucher for the same amount to be used anytime up to December 2021.
Also to my local bus company Airporter who having suspended services because of covid-19  are now honouring bookings made with a credit, which will last for 12 months from resumption of business.
Now if  only Easyjet would be so clear...

It's funny how peoples perceptions vary... on another thread the Travelodge policy is causing people to label them "Worst treatment of Customers in 2020"

If you see the post after yours, it seems easyJet are now letting people request a travel voucher valid for 6 months.  This might help you?

easyJet already have Winter 2020/21 on sale so people can book flights quite far in to the future.

If 6 months from now we are still in the same situation then, frankly, an easyJet credit voucher will really be the least of everyone's worries.

I logged into our booking on the mobile app and managed to press on 'get refund' and it now says 'refund being processed'
I guess we will just have to wait :(
Was yours already cancelled by them J_B?
The outbound (24/3) was cancelled but the return (3/4) has only been officially cancelled today - the 'manage booking' is still showing 'refund being processed, so, who knows???

That was my thread and it was over the reopening of hotels for emergency workers and uncancelling rooms for the general public they had cancelled the day before, even though we couldn't travel to them. I updated next day to say they had backtracked and recancelled rooms.  So all good.

Hi I booked an Easyjet flight via Expedia which has been cancelled by Easyjet.  When Flybe went under (booked a flight via Expedia too), Expedia said look at you CC statement, the payment you made was to Flybe so you need to go to Flybe for a refund.

So I am expecting the same response from Expedia regards the Easyjet flight as my CC does say Easyjet as the merchant.

Easyjet did write to me directly to say flight cancelled and they said to was due to extraordinary circumstances (i.e. code for no refunds!) and offered the usual links to make fee free changes etc

However, on Easyjet own website, the booking number is not recognised and under "my account" no trips are recognised.  So even though I am willing to reschedule my flight to a different date, I simply cant online.

Am I just going to have to try and call, as like with others, I cant get through
Eventually found my booking on Easyjet website (school boy error, I was using the wrong account details to sign in!).

Instead of re-booking the flight, I chose the voucher option but what came up after I confirmed that choice was an email saying my refund is being processed and will be paid back onto the card I used...  which is great if it actually happens!

I have been told today after 2 hours on hold and half an hour on the phone that they are not offering refunds and their policy has changed.  Website still says they are offering refunds as does their terms and conditions.
I literally got nowhere on the phone, are they hoping we all claim on our travel insurance (can't get through to them either) but obviously we will lose money because of the excess?

I can't see how I can use them again, I completely understand the financial predicament they are in but surely they will have their own insurance?
Do airlines have insurance covering them for pandemics? I have no idea...probably not I'd say, otherwise the insurance industry would be going bankrupt right now

Booked flights, belfast to Liverpool for daughters graduation in July. Daughter has returned home (on Uni advice) before she was stranded in Liverpool.
The Uni has now closed, and the graduation ceremony postponed. As it is an internal flight it is not subject to FCO guidance.
Booked with Easyjet, who are offering fee-free date changing, but as we have no clue as to the date the ceremony will be rescheduled it is kind of pointless.
Anyone else in a similar predicament?
Would there be a refund or will it be  just tough luck?

  • hi,,,need a bit of advice /help,,,,, I’ve booked a package holiday with easyjet holidays,,the holiday is in Majorca going 8 June,,,I’ve paid £180 deposit, I received an email yesterday saying the balance of £1200 is due to be paid before April 14th,,,,now with all this caronaviris madness the Foreign office is saying it’s unsafe to travel,,,,I’ve tried on easyJet’s website for info,, they’re saying customers can amend and change their booking online but only if you’ve paid the full holiday amount, they’re saying as I’ve only paid the deposit they are “working on solutions for other customers”,,,,I’m wondering will I be eligible for a refund of my deposit now, or will I have to pay the full £1200 first , then wait until closer to June to see if travel restrictions still apply ,!,Then wait until easyjet cancel and then receive the full refund,,, I really don’t want to loose the £180 deposit, I really appreciate any help or advice,,,,Thanks
