Booked flights, belfast to Liverpool for daughters graduation in July. Daughter has returned home (on Uni advice) before she was stranded in Liverpool.
The Uni has now closed, and the graduation ceremony postponed. As it is an internal flight it is not subject to FCO guidance.
Booked with Easyjet, who are offering fee-free date changing, but as we have no clue as to the date the ceremony will be rescheduled it is kind of pointless.
Anyone else in a similar predicament?
Would there be a refund or will it be  just tough luck?

I saw somebody comment on FB that they were told (having spoken to Easyjet) that as their flight was cancelled by Easyjet, if they hadn't rebooked after 30 days, Easyjet would automatically refund.
Our flight in 7 April was cancelled, if we do nothing until 7 May then they will issue automatically a refund? Can you rely on that?
I see this in Manage My Booking - do you see the same? It does mention a refund but there is no option for it!

Ok how did you get that? I am in EasyJet manage bookings and even though I have had email to say flight cancelled - I can still book in apparently... as I click on check in and it goes to step 1...
EJ are simply making it as difficult to get a refund as is humanly possible. We have 10 flights booked between now and Mid May - which will pretty much all be cancelled... do I have to go through this for each one...?
THey need to be bought to some kind of accountability for this - suprised they haven't put an equivalent 0870 number in place to try and get their money back that way.
  • got an email on the 6 April Luton-Faro flight cancellation and raised a refund request on the EU261 EasyJet page.
Got an acknowledgement email and text message.
Has anyone tried going this route?

Isn't this for compensation (which we're not entitled to - special circs and all that) rather than a refund?

  • My flights were cancelled 18th March and at that time there was an option for refund which I requested, our booking was for 9 people.
I got an email confirmation that refund would be issued within 7 days and my account said 'refund processing' today when I log into my account it has switched back to 'sorry your flights are cancelled please choose another flight', the refund processing has disappeared.
    Anyone had the same?

If easyJet cancel the flight then you would be entitled to a date change, or a flight credit/refund.  Some limited domestic flights are still operating currently, and I expect that by July domestic schedules will probably (hopefully!) be operating something more like normal.  If the flight operates then you wouldn't be entitled to anything unfortunately.

As you said, you could rebook now fee-free.  Perhaps if you could get in touch with easyJet they might be happy to make an exception and issue you credit vouchers for a future booking rather than a date change, given your circumstances.  That said they are exceptionally busy at the moment so I'd hold off right now.

Hi I booked an Easyjet flight via Expedia which has been cancelled by Easyjet.  When Flybe went under (booked a flight via Expedia too), Expedia said look at you CC statement, the payment you made was to Flybe so you need to go to Flybe for a refund.

So I am expecting the same response from Expedia regards the Easyjet flight as my CC does say Easyjet as the merchant.

Easyjet did write to me directly to say flight cancelled and they said to was due to extraordinary circumstances (i.e. code for no refunds!) and offered the usual links to make fee free changes etc

However, on Easyjet own website, the booking number is not recognised and under "my account" no trips are recognised.  So even though I am willing to reschedule my flight to a different date, I simply cant online.

Am I just going to have to try and call, as like with others, I cant get through
  • Further to my earlier post re; cancelled graduation....and Thank You Bagand96 for the reply... a shout out to Travelodge who are allowing people who have had to cancel  non-refundable bookings and instead are giving an online voucher for the same amount to be used anytime up to December 2021.
Also to my local bus company Airporter who having suspended services because of covid-19  are now honouring bookings made with a credit, which will last for 12 months from resumption of business.
Now if  only Easyjet would be so clear...

  • When EasyJet canceled my flights to and from Pisa on 12/03/2020 there was a clear option to claim a refund through the website. I did this and got my refund.
Today they have cancelled a new flight . This time there is no online option to claim a refund...you have to phone. I get either an engaged tone, or a recoded message telling me to call back later. Then the line goes dead. My flight is on April 3rd. This all looks like a strategy to get me to amend my booking online rather than claim a refund. The pressure is on!

many threads about this issue. I had flights cancelled for Wednesday and today...both cancelled 2 days beforehand and not able to get through to them (don't want to reschedule or voucher) those that do manage to get hold of them are being told they cannot get a refund, suspect I will need to do chargeback via card company
