    It's dawned on me........
Easyjet are only cancelling flights a few days in advance because they are hoping for a law change so that they don't have to offer refunds........

That, and if the FCO advises no travel, but they haven't cancelled (and hence no refund) - impatient customers may get insurance claims settled minus an excess, before easyJet have to pay out for a refund.

We were flying in early May to Portugal, the flights aren't cancelled yet, and the dates are outside the FCO advisory at the moment so no insurance coverage either.  AirBNB have refunded the accommodation and Rentalcars.com refunded the car hire so it's just flights we need to get a refund on, waiting game at the moment but we might go down the insurance route if the FCO extend their travel advisory beyond April 16th given the problems people are having getting easyJet refunds to work and the fact they are likely to go bust before they refund everyone!
  • I have been told today after 2 hours on hold and half an hour on the phone that they are not offering refunds and their policy has changed.  Website still says they are offering refunds as does their terms and conditions.
I literally got nowhere on the phone, are they hoping we all claim on our travel insurance (can't get through to them either) but obviously we will lose money because of the excess?

I can't see how I can use them again, I completely understand the financial predicament they are in but surely they will have their own insurance?

I've just done the same.  Now a different kind of waiting game begins.  Good luck everyone!

Having given this some thought I decided to rebook in late May. My reasoning is a S75 claim would most likely result in an easyJet ban and we fly with them at least twice a year.  I'm certain they will survive this, so not gonna chance being black listed. Changed the ticket to late May. If that's cancelled I would bet they would allow another change anyway...

I saw somebody comment on FB that they were told (having spoken to Easyjet) that as their flight was cancelled by Easyjet, if they hadn't rebooked after 30 days, Easyjet would automatically refund.
Our flight in 7 April was cancelled, if we do nothing until 7 May then they will issue automatically a refund? Can you rely on that?

I see this in Manage My Booking - do you see the same? It does mention a refund but there is no option for it!
