I've called Easyjet today, around 08:03am UK Time, was on the line for 2 hours and 47 minutes when they finally answered, they told me they will process a refund back to the card, it would take 3-5 working days, the lady I spoke with also told me that she would send me a confirmation of this by email ... it has been 10 minutes since the phone conversation approx ... so far nothing received by email. I will keep you posted if anything changes later on today etc.
Good luck.......i'm just amazed you got through on a weekend
Yes, I wasn't around the phone all the times, the lady on the phone was nice though, was not in a rush to hang up, it took me like 5-10 seconds to reach the phone when she answered the call ... also I've edited the quoted text you were quoting from me, I've posted a screenshot above - I will keep you posted if it shows back in the card or not.
  • A Google search brought me to an easyJet refund claim form.  I'm not allowed to post the link here, but you'll find it by adding this to the easyJet home page address:
    en/claim/EU261
Has anyone used this form successfully, or does it just spit out an 'invalid request' message or '404 error', etc?

The EU261 claim form is a claim for compensation but the EU said the Coronavirus is a category that falls under something extraordinary so filling out the form is useless.
The only way to get a refund is over the phone right now, so it seems. I also tried sending them a message about 2-3 weeks ago even before the flight was cancelled telling them "by the time you would read this message you would probably see the flight is cancelled" - but so far no one has responded to it ... I guess there is no alternative to other than talking to them over the phone but it does require you to wait 3-4 hours or so until someone answers.

That form is not going to work for refunds. It can be used for extra expenses you incur if for example you have to return to a different airport than that booked and incur cost such as taxi / hotel.....

Did you have to wait until cancelled flight was shown in "manage my booking"?
Have flights booked on 18th April so only change flight option showing and as we were going to see 80-year-old in-laws that isn't going to happen.
    Thanks.

Our flight for 7 April was cancelled, the returning flight is on 16 April still showing with OK status but there is no doubt it will be cancelled.

According to BBC News, EasyJet have now grounded all planes indefinitely and have no idea when they're likely to resume flights (sorry I can't post links as I only just re-signed up following the revamp of the forums!).  I am hoping that this means that they will start issuing refunds automatically - although my booking still shows that I can change my flights (my outward flight for 10 April has been cancelled but still being offered the options of either changing the flights or opting for a voucher)!  There are no updates that I can see on the EasyJet website about what's being reported on the BBC News website.
